They just said "don't be surprised" if Juwon is back on the Rockets, and that it was a pretty reliable source. Evidently there was a handshake deal with the T'Wolves owner if Garnett was traded, Juwon could walk.

I know there's been an ongoing discussion about the Wolves trying to trade Howard (http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=133424), but I guess this is slightly new. I know we can't trade for him, but I think we could pick him up as a FA.

I don't endorse this move. I think Juwon should retire or stay away from the Rockets. But it was mentioned this morning, so I figured I'd post.

Aw, man, someone beat me to it!

Yeah, this was on the radio. Basically, Andre Ware at Sports Radio 610 reported from a " very reliable source " of his that Juwan Howard is planning on being released from the T-Wolves to come back and sign with Houston for the cheap. The Rockets have agreed under-the-table to seriously consider signing him for the veteran minimum.

    This is from Andre Ware.

Hey, if he comes on the dirt cheap, he would be depth at the 4. At least he wouldn't be getting paid $7+ mill. to play for us.

Well, he can keep on walking. That was addition by subtraction.

Exactly. Our PF situation isn't exactly great right now. Scola is still unproven, and Hayes shouldn't be playing more than 20 mpg. We could use another guy at that position. Howard was producing, he just wasn't producing up to his contract, and if we sign him for the vet min that's obviously not a problem.

howard wont play that much if he does come here. People love to hate on howard, but as a 3rd or 4th PF...you could do much worse. Plus, the rockets most skilled PF is a guy who's never played in the NBA. It may be wise to have a vet who is well rounded and a smart player.

Wow if this happens, Wolves gave us Mike James and help us pay for Juwan's salary...awesome trade haha... On the other hand, our roster is so full already, who are we gonna cut, i don't want to let go of our young guys so that they can develop.

Now all we need is Span to opt out after one year in Athens and come back to the Rockets

Good grief can we get rid of some players before we take on more??

I honestly think the Rockets were sad to let Juwan go, but do we take him back and add another person to a roster with 21 contracts already?

Kelvin Cato is also slated to return, as will Maurice Taylor.

Isn't there some kind of new rule that a player who is traded to a new team can't be waived and then re-join the original team?

Edit: Obviously I got it wrong.

    http://www.nba.com/news/cba_summary_050804.html

    # If a team trades a player and the player is subsequently waived by the assignee team, the assignor team will not be permitted to sign the player to a new contract (or claim him off of waivers) until at least 30 days have passed following the date the trade was made (or 20 days for trades that occur during the off-season).

I sort of agree with you in principle, but on the other hand, we have a huge glut in our roster. We already have too many average players on the team to choose from.

Adding Juwon means letting someone else go.

    Andre lost me at......

OJ didn't do it but he knows who did.

I lost respect for the guy's ability to think rationally after I heard that garbage statement.
