Alright I'm realtivley new to this board. But trust me, I won't waste my time making up a post just to get people riled up. There's no point to that. Anyway, I'm a constant poster on the ESPN message board, and I came upon this post. The guy that made up the post won't bullcorn about it, and is telling the truth. If you all don't wanna read it, I'll just tell you what he said. Basically, the Houston 610 claimed that Rox and Pacers are in serious talks right now. The guy claims that Pacer are trying to send Harrington and possibly Artest to Houston for Mobley and possibly Cato. You take this post however you wanna take it, I'm just reporting what was said. http://boards.espn.go.com/cgi/nba/request.dll?LIST&room=nba_hou&ref=132014
unless someone on this board is able to confirm that 610 reported that then it is simply a rumor from the ESPN Message boards and nothing more.
According to RealGM, Artest is BYC. Anyone know how such a trade would work without a third team with cap room getting involved?
BigMoe, in your link, your guy says he "heard" such-and-such, but doesn't say from where. Where did you get 610?
Re : BYC http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#72 in a nutshell : Here is an example of a BYC calculation: A player earned $2 million in 99-00, after which he became a free agent. Prior to the start of the 00-01 season, he signs a new contract (re-signing with his previous team, which is over the salary cap) starting at $9 million. This player qualifies for BYC, so his trade value is the greater of his previous salary ($2 million) or 50% of his new salary ($4.5 million), or $4.5 million. So this player, who actually earns $9 million, is worth $4.5 million for trading purposes Man, If we can get Artest, Its Christmas. Artest : 6'7" 246lbs 24 yrs $ 41/6 = 6.83/2 = 3.416 mil (rough average, first yr is less). Harrington: 6'9" 250 lbs 23 yrs 10/30/01: The Pacers signed Al Harrington to a 4-year, $23.8mil contract extension. The extension will start with the 02-03 season. $ 23.8/4 = 5.95 (rough average). Patricia sez : 5.0 last yr. approx. 9.5 for both. ============================= Cuttino - roughly 5 mil (last yr) Cato - roughly 6.7 mil (last yr- is more this yr) Approx. 11-12 ? ====================== We'd need one more player or a pick to bridge. Could be us taking their trash in croshere or mercer and throwing in mooch.
Nooooooo!!!! Not Artest and not for Mobley, I love The Cat. What does Artest do better than Mobley? Nothing, Cat was already our best defender. I like Cato now, he's the best backup in the league, and we're already FULL at SF, we don't need Harrington too. Harrington is like EG so we don't need him at PF. That trade makes zero sense. THIS IS r****dED, DON'T DO THIS TRADE ROCKETS!
Read this, around the mid page where its talking about Artest and Harrington. I copy and pasted if you don't wanna waste time http://www.newsday.com/sports/baske...0,5732684.column?coll=ny-basketball-headlines Bird, who fired Thomas this past week, is looking to reconfigure the team and solve what he has been referring to as a chemistry problem. That means some decent players could end up being available, players such as Ron Artest and Al Harrington. Artest, while an incredible defensive talent, can't play offense and has the potential to zap a lot of a coaching staff's energy with his emotional and volatile nature. Though Artest seemed to get his act together by the end of last season, one can't imagine a no-nonsense type such as soon-to-be-coach Rick Carlisle putting up with some of the stuff a coach might face in order to get the most out of Artest. There are plenty of teams out there, however, who would be willing to do it.
there is a very simple way to figure out if this is just some stupid rumor or if it has some substance to it. I just emailed sports radio 610. I think some others should do the same. Since this is the source being quoted, does it hurt to confirm it?
imo, until he changes, the Artest attitude only works on a team with a clear and dominating superstar to lay down the law. I like Artest, but I think he needs a guy on the court to walk up to him during one of his tirades and say, "Don't f!ck up my win, here. Shut up and play."
This trade proposal really pisses me off. If you read what I said a few messages up, I'd like to know how you can dispute any of my claims and tell me how this trade is beneficial for us.
Charlie always replies to email. BTW, if they are on the air now and haven't mentioned it yet, well...
Have you been listening to it from the beginning. News like this would be shown from the beginning, right. I'm not trying to persuade you that the rumor is true, I just want the facts straight.
