Just heard this driving in this morning at around 6:30 am.. little blurb, so no other info other than:

David Dalotti: ' ..And news from Rockets Camp, Tracy McGrady sits out yesterday's practice with a sore back.'

    That was it.

If this was already posted, then please kill this thread.

Was just wondering if anyone knew anything more about this, is it nothing, is there something going on that we didn't already know about? I know TMac has had some problems in the past with his back.. is this just regular precautionary stuff for this early in training camp?

    Hopefully it's just a trifle.

Well in Jonathan Feigen's article: Jackson fills variety of roles in Houston Chronicle on Oct 7th, there is a small paragraph reporting Tracy McGrady sitting out most of the practice due to a stiffened back.

    But apparently it's nothing serious.

It's serious for the long term. If he is this young and is having nagging back problems just imagine how bad it will be 3-4 years down the line. :(

I hope it is not serious, but isn't there a lot of "running and stopping" during a game?

Sore backs are a common problem in training camps. Yao got a sore back in the first week he was training with the Nation Team in Dallas.

The rumor is that they may employ last year's offensive strategy, whereby there would only be "stopping" so as to reduce the risk of injury to T-Mac. Ingenious.

I dont think its anything seriuse. I think it happines to at least one player every training camp. They just arnt used to all that running and jumping because of the offseason.

While I would love to agree with you, this isn't the case for TMac.

As said in the article, he has had back problems ever since his rookie season. It obviously hasn't slowed down his game much, but he is still very, very young. We don't know how it will be in 4-5 years, but I'm still willing to take the chance.

Wasn't there a thread saying he didn't really have back problems.

How has the back problems OBVIOUSLY slowed down his game? By leading the league in scoring the past 2 years? It only causes him to miss 2-3 games at a time, not weeks or months.

I wonder if the check cleared. Tracy can't do any cooking without the dough.

it's not a back problem! i have what t-mac gets! it only gets sore on certain repetitive motions! I'd get it after 45 minutes of crouching down and standing up or like gardening (i'm not a gardner, just an example) But i have rarely ever got it during a actuall basketball game and we used to play for like 5-6 hours at a time and my back never got sore.. but 45 minutes of gardening and my back would be in so much pain.
