The part I like best is that the WH edits Climate Science reports. The editor? A former lawyer lobbyist for Big Oil (American Petroleum Institute). You go W! I am glad the adults are now in charge.
I also saw this. Sadly, I'm hardly surprised anymore - this is what I expect from our luddites in power. Ignorance, in any form, is more than bliss - it's power.
How pathetic that is. Does anyone still believe that GWB has the interests of anyone other than big business at heart?
Maybe Gorbachev is dead-on. Maybe we need serious reform. Maybe our government is so beholden to special interests, on both sides of the aisle, that it can no longer function effectively for We, the people.
I agree. It is far past time for us to remove money from politics altogether. We need to turn public service back into service like jury duty, where people do it because it is their duty, not to get rich (or to get richer).
not standing up for GWB....but i guess you didn't watch the report because the scientist said the clinton admin got him to change words too to suit their political interests better. the problem isn't GW or Bubba but allowing politics to be involved in the science. both sides try to slant the science so it backs their point and its disgusting.
I pledge Allegiance to the Rich of the United States of America and to the Plutocracy for which it stands, one nation under Delusion, polarized, with Ignorance and NASCAR for all.
It's not like there's a strong green movement in every blue city and state.... People like to look to the government for easy solutions and guidance, but the initial steps such as presorting items for recycling, energy conserving, house and car maintanence, and carpooling/avoiding mid to large utility vehicles would make a world of a difference if half of the American people did it.
You heard/watched wrong. It said they wanted him to say global warming was worse than it was at the time. He didn't.
I mentioned this a while back, and as hard as it is to believe, it's true. This is what Bush's ardent supporters have gotten us... corruption of the highest order, damaging our national security in order to reward big campaign contributors and friends in the oil and gas industry. Selling out the future of our country, and the world, for quarterly profit reports. It sickens me. Keep D&D Civil.
The segment about GM's financial troubles was certainly informative. Pretty interesting dilemma they're in, indeed...
Yea its amazing to see the competitive disadvantage they are at. Foreign companies are either building at home (usually in countries in which the government will subsidize health care and other social costs), building in countries like Mexico and paying much less with little to no benefits, or are even building in the US but dont have to deal with unions.
I've been thinking the same thing lately. The technology (to manipulate) that money can buy does our democracy an injustice. Time to set-up massive websites for free for candidates and let everyone go there to read about them. Provide hardcopy version on demand. No commercials, no spin doctors.
