Anyone interested in starting a poll on if you think this federally mediated lockout meeting today (Tuesday afternoon) will yield any results? They've been in there for 6 hours already (which I think is a good sign). -Lockout Over - Hooray!! -Several Items Agreed Upon - Few Things Left -Barely anything agreed upon - Lots left -Nothing Happens - more games canceled
I can easily figure it out: someone made up his mind that he's woth it. It's like paying for a movie, you never know what you'll get.
I'm going to go with this option. I may be wrong -- I certainly was last week when I thought they would get a deal done by the "deal or scrap the first 2 weeks" deadline, but I still stick with the point, that neither side is really willing to sacrifice any games. If you look at Stern's comments back in the summer, he said the framework for a deal needed to be done by 9/1 before any games would be sacrificed (if I remember correctly), and he extended that out fairly significantly.
Seems about even with "hawk" vs "dove" owners, but at least stupid players like Wade and KG aren't there. I'm just wondering, though, why is Cuban a "hawk", or someone willing to withstand a long lockout? Spending money has never been an issue for him and I don’t get why he wouldn’t want basketball back ASAP when he’s just coming off a championship.

It isn't expected to end soon. daldridgetnt David Aldridge With the caveat that this is a much different kind of bargaining session, at 9 hrs, it is by far the longest since the start of the lockout.
daldridgetnt David Aldridge Smoke 'em if you got 'em: coming up on 10 hrs with Mediator Cohen, league, union. No end expected for a while. Have no idea what it means...
What it means is if they don't make big progress in this extended session, there won't be NBA basketball for a while. All the bullets are being fired and there won't be anything left after tonight except an impasse and the will and endurance of one side vs. the other.
