THERE ARE 134 EARTHQUAKES PER YEAR BETWEEN 6 AND 6.9. You gonna create one of these threads for each new earthquake? http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/eqarchives/year/eqstats.php
It's Taiwan, not some desolated place in Africa. Taiwan is pretty packed, not to mention the tall buildings there.
hmmm I didnt know that, just opened Firefox and CNN is my homepage and saw that as the top story. Wonder why CNN has it up there if its not a big deal...
I just opened up CNN.com and one of the lead stories was Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper going on an AIDS mission to Africa. Thinking about starting a thread on that too.
earthquakes makin' us cynical round here... I personally worry about the Big One in SoCal every time I see news of another quake...
Wow, I did not know that! 6 - 6.9 is pretty bad. Can't scientists with all their cool space technology detect where the next one's gonna be? Maybe we should make an "Official Earth Quate Thread" since there are obviously gonna be more coming. Thanks for the hot info.
I had a geology professor that would begin semesters by predicting a major earthquake would transpire during the semester. Of course, he went on to point out that it was a safe gamble given the frequency of said events.
A strong earthquake with magnitude 6.5 struck Friday night in the ocean southwest of Sumatra in Indonesia, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
I'm Taiwanese and this could move it to D&D which I will be no part of  My relatives are in southern Taiwan and they are ok, but felt significant shaking. Earthquakes in Haiti and Chile has made us sensitive to any subsequent earthquakes though, much like how Katrina and Rita made us scared of hurricanes for a while.
