I feel your frustration man. They have been like this all season. Yao has a great game and then the next game they don't look for him enough and give up trying to get it to him just because the defense is fronting or playing him better. They need to make the extra effort to get it to him.

I listened to post game interviews on 610 last night. Padgett and Wesley both said they need to get the ball to Yao more. so maybe they unserstand that and will get him more shots.

Yao needs to shoot more, but at the same time he needs to get in better position too. C'mon DIRK was pushing him out of the block a few times when sura or wes wanted to get the ball to him. Yao would also hold on to the ball too long allowing the defense to triple him. It led to two assists for three pointers, but percentage wise, i'd rather have him take the ball to the basket immediatly more often than not.

This was exactly what I noticed. What the hell! He should have been getting great position agaist Dirk but he didn't even TRY to hold his ground. Is Dirk so strong that he can effortlessly move Yao? I even saw guards box him out. This is unacceptable. What a waste of a big body!

Agreed, plus it gets them in the penalty.

Always the best excuse for ignoring your best shooter.

I don't know whether this has been mentioned in here. After the game Yao said that he was warned by the refs that if he had any body contact with the opponents at the offence end, he would get the offence foul call. He got one in the fourth quarter.

I think that is reason he had to give up the “battle” with Dirk or Damp to get the position, otherwise he would be fouled out again.

    Here is the whole article.

Not really a "best excuse", Yao just doesn't get/hold a good, deep inside position on consistent basis. Add to that that our shooters were doing well overall in the game last night, and Yao making some nice passes out to them for wide-open jumpers, and that explains the 11 attempts.

Now, may be if Yao keeps his butt out of foul trouble (like in Game 2) so he can stay aggressive on both ends, he would get the ball even more. I think fouls frustrate Yao, and it makes him shy away from being assertive.

Anyways, I think Game 3 was more a case of bad defense/poor energy level/Mavs' desperation than it was Yao not getting enough shots. Even Deke played pretty badly and was frustrated out there last night with calls and stuff.

Yah well, all that and we only lost by 4

right on, and that`s lip service...the stupid guards/tracy say that after every loss...we need to get the ball to YAO...why does it take losing to tell you that....even when they win i am not happy with yao`s lack of involvement.....if the national media only knew why yao`s numbers are not spectacular.....well tracy jacks it up 25 times a game and shoots 42.5 percent for the long haul.....go play tennis if you want to be selfish....that is the game for self-centered players....winning takes precedent over your stupid numbers tracy:mad:

If that's true, this shows Yao's inexperience. You got 20 some thousand fans behind you, what's to afraid of. I serious doubt ref would say any body contact from Yao would result a foul on him. Come on, Yao gotta misunderstand it.

before opening this thread my guess was...
    "Pass the ball to Yao."

pretty close. he's got to stay out of foul trouble though. the refs have been hurting us though.

When Yao comes out aggressive he typically gets the benefit of the doubt. I didn't think he got into foul trouble in last nights game though. Actually I was thrilled to see him rebound the ball and aggressively go right back up with it and attack the basket. He usually picks up the ticky-tack fouls on defense like the block he had the was clearly all ball and the refs blew the whistle on him

There were a number of times when he had established position and sealed his man off only to have the guards not pass him the ball. That just frustrates me to no end. You have your big man working hard and battling for position down low and never get the ball.....WTF?

As JVG will be telling his guys today......"When you deviate from the formula that we know works it tends to hurt us more then help us"

Early in the game, Yao was getting TRIPLE teamed. If the Mavs are gonna do that, surely we can find somebody else that is pretty open. And in fact, most of the game we were hitting open 3's.

I think we need to run more Pick-n-Rolls w/ TMac and Yao. Whenever they run it, it seems to work. But they don't run it enough for my taste.

Somebody has to put Yao in front of one of those eye-doctor machines and make him react to "objects" coming at him from the side. The man has NO PERIPHERAL VISION. He NEVER sees the double coming. He never sees the guard coming to swat the ball out of his hands. They box him in, and he can't make the right pass, and he either turns it over or tosses it desperately to the one Rocket he sees in front of him. And by that time the defense is moving back to cover the perimeter guy on the other side of the court who was left open.

Hakeem could do this. The double came, he saw it, he knew right away which Rocket was left open, he sent the ball that way. Yao has got to learn to make this happen in one pass, not three.

Yao and the Rockets need to punish Mavericks for playing small.

If you recall game 2 correctly, Yao scored on Dirk at will.

I also read that Yao artcile in Chinese. I cannot really believe what yao said. It basically came down to the refs warning Yao of not making any body contact on the offensive end, otherwise he would be called for an offensive foul. And Yao used that example where he was called for a foul when Dirk tried to wrestle with him.

    WTF is that?

good point. Yao's deaf in one ear which may explain this problem a little.

I wish he would sometimes just make a decisive move BEFORE the double team comes. Just catch, turn and shoot! He's not the quickest guy in the world, but is a good shooter and does have a definitive height advantage over everyone.

unfortunately the Rox's MVP (Van Horn) hurt himself - so he wasn't out on the court in the 4th quarter NOT playing defense on Tmac and Yao
