posting from VA... felt it. scary as hell since you never hear of one this one.

Im in the 3rd floor of an apartment and grabbed my dog, and 1 year old who was asleep and ran downstairs...

when this happens does it usually "shake" just once or is there more to follow1?!?!?!

wow thats unusual is it common to have quakes out there? I thought it was really only Cali that had them in the US. Hopefully there wasnt much damage or loss of life I dont know how 'quake ready' people and buildings are there

aftershocks will happen but they are smaller than the first quake and usually only felt near the epicenter

i would say for a 5.8 you would probably get a aftershock in the low 4s or high 3s which could be felt if you were close by.

What's weird is that Google news has yet to mention it.

Yeah, felt it up here in Maryland. Just about to post about it. At first I thought it was just someone rolling something heavy down the hall, but then my Rockets bobbleheads started shaking rather violently above my desk.

Felt it in a NYC skyscraper. The building swayed enough to make everyone dizzy for a minute.

    We felt it in NY.

At first I thought it was some lady walking on the floor above us.

Aparently it was 5.8 in NY, DC, and Virginia.

That's it. I am moving to California.

There was 5.3 last night in southern Colorado. Mother nature is restless.
