Wouldn't this go against federal law and hence not matter?

something like that, but also, the following quote would make it difficult to supply the shops...

It would be purely symbolic. I remember a town in Colorado legalized pot but it had no practical effect.

I'm not sure about that. I know that in Alaska, it is legal to grow it and smoke it, but you can't sell it.

The Alaska state congress reinstated the ban in 2006 but its going through the whole judicial process again. I think possession is now a misdemeanor in Alaska again.

do local and state police enforce federal law?

if yes, then they should be arresting people for illegal downloads of music/movies as well as illegal immigrants which violate federal law. i suspect nothing comes of this.

    Legalize it
    Don't criticize it
    Legalize it Yea-ah Yea-ah
    And I will advertise it.

Aren't Republicans big into State's Rights?

I could see how Nevada would like to add another available sin to attract tourists but I don't think stoners would be very active gamblers. Plus I'm sure they would drug test all the gaming industry employees....I don't see it happening.

Code words for segregation. IOW social conservatives want "state's rights" to futher their agenda versus supporting it in general.
