A letter from La Vega school district administrators to the student's parents said that the boy was involved in "inappropriate physical behavior interpreted as sexual contact and/or sexual harassment" after he hugged the woman and he "rubbed his face in the chest of (the) female employee" on Nov. 10. DaMarcus Blackwell, the father of the boy who attends La Vega Primary School, said he filed a complaint with the district. He said that his son doesn't understand why he was punished. "When I got that letter, my world flipped," Blackwell said in a story in Sunday's editions of the Waco Tribune-Herald. La Vega school district officials said student privacy laws prevented them from commenting. After Blackwell filed a complaint, a subsequent letter from the district said the offense had been changed to "inappropriate physical contact" and removed references of sexual contact or sexual harassment from the boy's file. Administrators said the district's student handbook contains no specific guidelines referring to contact between teachers and students but does state that inappropriate physical contact will result in a discipline referral. How would you guys punish the kid? He needs to know what he did was wrong and that he shouldn't do it again if it was inappropriate touching. He is too young for it to be "sexual." What if he had grabbed another kid's private area? Would you guys say "Awww how cute! He doesn't know what he's doing!"? He needs to learn sometime.
How about just explaining it to the kid without punishing him? It's a 4-year-old for crying out loud.
exactly --- making too big of a deal out of it is actually more harmful to the kid then calmly talking to him.
Certainly he should know if he did something wrong..if the behavior was innapropriate, the teacher should talk with him and explain the differences. If he continues such behavior than a parent-conference would be warranted. If he still continues the behavior then a suspension. But to go straight to the suspension and include "sexual harrasment" acts on his file is abosultely absurd. I'd like to know what the female employee was thinking in interpreting a four-year old's action as sexual harassment.

The rule is the rule. I am pretty sure it is listed in the rule books somewhere that students are not supposed to show affection in the form of touching, hugging... etc. It doesn't matter if he is 4 years old or 14 years old. He should have read the rules of the school if he is going to attend school... or any other institutions. If he doesn't like the rule of this society, they can immigrate somewhere else. Furthermore, he might not know what "sexual harassment", I am pretty sure he knows how to please himself and all those things. It is one of the earliest thing people learn. I can't believe the school district succumb to the pressure from the parents to modify the offenses. I am all for an iron fist policy on these types of stuff. I mean, this culture of dancing in public, hugging in public, drinking, have got to STOP. We should ban them all.. not just in schools, but in all public places. Human are corrupted, we are breeding a culture of rapists, murders, drunks, and dumb people.
