What's the deal with the trade thingie? Does the team we trade with get 4.5 million dollars? Do we get to go 4.5 million dollars more over the cap? If the team we trade to gets 4.5 million dollars, unless they are financially struggling (Spurs?) why would they trade a real good player for some scrubs and 4.5 million? I would appreciate it if someone cleared this whole thing up! ------------------ The Chuckwagon came, saw, and threw people through windows!
If we make a trade with another team, the difference between what we send and what we get salary wise can be over by 4.5Million. Note: The standard differences per the new CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement) can be as much as 115% of the sending amount or as low as 85% of the receiving amount. Example: we send two players worth $10 million in annual salary to another team. We can get back $14.5 million in return without sanctions or league refusals. It must be a trade. Cannot be a resign or free agent signing. But it can include a sign and trade with another team. That clear it up or make it muddier? [This message has been edited by popeye (edited April 20, 2000).]
