wouldn't it be great to see hakeem play again in the throwback rockets jersey cuttion and company were wearin. it'll bring back some old memories. imagine this, "hakeem pulls off the dream shake on justin timberlake and the crowd is on their feet!!!" heh, what about calvin murphy? i wanna see if he can still shoot the lights out.
They're bringing back that 3 on 3 crap? Sigh. Atleast we get to see current players in the red/yellow jerseys. For some reason, it looked smooth on Cuttino (but I didn't like it much when we had it back then...).
How about Van Chancellor's grandson, Nicholas (Nikko)? j/k (inside joke for those of you who listen to 610) Seriously though, Id love to see Hakeem in the game. However, in all honestly, I would be shocked if Hakeem ever did anything like this. I know alot of posters want Hakeem to be an assistant with the Rockets, but I think well hear very little from Hakeem during his retirement. Thats the kind of guy he is. You wont seem as a TV analyst, you probably wont see him coaching and you probably wont seem him participating in any NBA legend activities. In fact, I dont even think youll see Hakeem at very many Rocket games in the future, except for special occasions.
The 3on3 Non-Stars: Rudy T/Vernon Maxwell/Pat Riley Rebeca Lobo/Janeth Arcain Pete MicKeal/TiTo/Boki Lyle Lovett/Dan Rather Hey, there's always a chance!
I agree, the allstar weekend is a joke. The way the fans pick the starting lineup is a joke. Some of the best players in the league dont get selected even when their playing better than other, more popular players. The allstar team should be selected by players and coaches exclusively. Then you would truly see the best players in the world, at that point in time, playing on the same court. Oh..and that spinning the wheel crap, made for the worst dunk contest in history. How can you ask Stevie to attempt something that he cannot do? That dunk required being able to palm the \basketball, which Francis cant even do! That was a sham. I thought the dunk contest was about letting the players be creative and showcase the amazing abilities they have. Not to attempt dunks that have already been done. Thats just r****ded, if you ask me.
You can't say All-Star selections are biased from the fans perspective. Coaches DO select the reserves that play on the team. There is rarely an instance in the NBA where there is a snub. The fans obviously love Vince Carter for some odd reason. My guess is it has something to do with Chinese fans because VC visited China last summer. But in baseball, there is always about 5 players who "deserve" to go but can't. That's too bad, but it just doesn't happen in the NBA.
Nothing to do with him visiting China. For a start, the reason he visited China was because he's popular there. And the reason he's popular in China and all over the world for that matter is because TV regularly boardcast the dunk contest as well as his many fancy dunks throughout the season. So an abundance of average fans became Vince fans and continued to vote for him injury or not.
