...were scored by players not on the team last year. (Lone exception being 1 free throw by Dwight) 29 were scored by two guys who were added to this team as what amounts to cast offs (Smith and Brewer.) So Darrell Murraay, here's to you...
And hats off to McHale to sticking with that lineup. Brewer was rolling and you could not take him out. Harden couldn't replace Jet probably and def not Ariza's defense. They were just flying everywhere on defense. It was beautiful.
Not even for this game alone, but hats off to both Murray and McHale for everything they've done to get and then to embrace Josh Smith. I was certainly a doubter on that one, but Josh Smith stood up last night and just snatched victory away from the Clippers. He doesn't have that moment if Morey hadn't brought him here and if McHale wasn't so good at making his guys feel comfortable.
It's so tricky with Josh Smith. But overall, when you sum over everything, yes, they are not in the 2nd round without him and they aren't going to game 7 without him. (It's hard to ignore how bad he was in games 3 and 4 though; just hard to believe it's the same guy, but I guess that's just who he is.)
Yeah, it's just weird. The two dudes that saved us was also the two dudes that contributed to our total collapse in previous games.
Another fun stat: we tied the Clippers for total rebounds if you do not count Dwight Howard's. We had 61-40 advantage with 21 from Dwight!
