Saw my daughter messing with this last night - first impression was 'Oh, gee, Nintendo can't be too happy about this.' Looked pretty cool, but it's SUCH a radical departure from what we have been used to. Anyone had a chance to play with this yet, any thoughts? hehehe and poor Sony STILL can't get their s**t together on this. oh and I will definitely be experimenting with the Netflix streaming stuff now, even in HD.. WOO!
d/led it last night, not bad, made my "Avatar" haven't played anything with it yet. The presentation is pretty clean, have it on a regular TV wondering how it would look on a Widescreen It's different, just going to take some time to get used to.
I took a look at it last night for about 30 mins, 20 of which were spent trying to get the avatar to "look right"!.... heh As far as the interface goes, it is actually essentially the same information laid out with a better visual display. Everything just seems to pop out more. Even if you don't want to use the new interface, you can just press the Xbox button and use what is essentially the old interface. It is easy to navigate and has everything in the same place for the most part. I personally like the update to the interface, because the old one, although it did exactly what it needed to, it was very bland. As for streaming Netflix HD? Well, it certainly doesn't hurt having it and I'll definitely be using it in the future.
It's fun and refreshing. The party system is pretty nice -- you can chat with everyone in your party even if not everyone is playing the same game or doing the same thing.
Not sure yet, but from what I read, if you already have a netflix account, then you can hook them together very easily. Will find out tonight.. looks like a new 360 HD is going to have to be on the kids' Christmas list..
Netflix is bull on XBox Live. For any of you who do not have Netflix, there are two options 1) Add to your Queue (ship) 2) Watch instantly. The watch instantly movies are old movies that no one watches or no one in their 20's would like to watch. So guess what movies you can watch on Xbox??? You got it! The watch instantly movies. I have had Netflix for over a year and never once watched an instant movie. So until Netflix streams their new movies I will not be using my Xbox to watch these movies.
Well, which movies would you expect to be available? Ones that aren't available to stream from their main site? Makes no sense. And I disagree, it has great value. I find that watching TV shows via netflix (instantly) is pretty nice. The Office, CSI (500 seasons of it, haha), 30 Rock, a lot of shows really.
I think the avatars are a little too much like Wii, but I do like the new interface. It feels more responsive.
I like the way you scroll through games/movies now in the marketplace. It really makes them pop. Perhaps the biggest improvement for me: SCREENSHOTS!!!!!!! So awesome. So happy. Less wasted downloading.
The Netflix thing is slick. Works really well. I like the overall layout. It's not necessarily a big change - pretty much all the things you did before are still there. But it's just added a lot of features. So far I've been impressed with: 'Party' system. Basically a universal chat with people on your friends list. Four of you could be chatting, but two of you could be, say, playing Gears of War while someone else is watching a Netflix movie and a fourth person is waiting to play. Game Installs To Hard Drive. Disc still has to be in the drive to play but it cuts down on loading and the DVD drive doesn't have to spin while you play. Game Details/Friend Details Layout. Much more comprehensive now, shows a lot of different details. Friends list will actually even show the avatars of your friends, what they are doing, and the avatars of other people they are with. Haven't had a chance to mess around with everything, but some friends and I were trying stuff out before playing some Horde in Gears of War. Cool stuff.
I thought the selection was pretty wide. Plenty of good movies and new ones too. Don't know what you are talking about ? I think its the best part of nXe, if you have a netflix account of course. Everything else is nice too. Very clean.
if there's a man playing xbox on a tube tv... tinman will be there if someone out there needs to know the difference between plasma and lcd... tinman will be there if you are watching blu ray movies on a 13 inch slyvania tv... tinman will be there to mock you
