Astros sitting with ~20% chance of making the playoffs. They really can't afford anymore bad 10+ game stretches prior to the deadline and this stretch of 9 games against the Angels, Royals, and Tigers is time for them to make hay and gain ground on the Mariners. 31 games remaing before the AS break and Houston (and every team) probably will decide their deadline position by then. Houston needs to go ~19-12 at worst to really justify buying. That's totally doable because they don't play any really tough teams outside the Rays between now and then: Angels* Royals* Tigers* Guardians Blue Jays* Tigers* Twins* Rays Nats* Rangers* * denotes .500 or worse team
The home stand was good for differential (+9) despite going below 500. Astros need wins too. __ Matchups look good and Astros have played well on the road lately winning 6 of 7. Results this series Sweep - balances the wack 4-5 home stand, 500 progress (7-5) Win - wasted 2 weeks, zero 500 progress (6-6) Lose/Swept - smh/LOL
