I am totally in awe of how out of touch the Houston Rocket's Organization is concerning their fan base.

The GM gives two maybe three press conferences a yr concerning the state of the team and their direction. The owner is more concern with new business ventures, than the state of the team.

Currently, we have one of our in state rivals who are presently in the NBA Finals and the Rockets are more concern with dropping new jerseys.....JERSEYS? I could care less about jerseys. Its more about the players who are in them.

DROP SOME NEWS ON PLAYERS WHO HAVE BEEN IN FOR DRAFT WORKOUTS TO KEEP THE FANS ENGAGED.

You can show off new jerseys after you have made roster moves to improve the team or if the plan is to stand still, drop them after the draft, when you have made your draft picks, to create a buzz.

Its like every since Stone has become the GM, there has been no relationship with the Fanbase and the organization! Im not a Morey TRUTHER by any means but at a minimum, he kept the Fanbase informed.

Ferntits family doesn’t care about winning. They just like owning their franchise toy as ‘family status, tax benefits and for increasing net worth (due to appreciation of the franchise value). It’s all about the money.

Everyone beneath ownership is an unqualified “paycheck collector “.

So yeah, they’re all out of touch.

You got it wrong! Don't know if you recall but the Rockets use to release info on draftable players who they would bring in for workouts to keep us enagaged.

Its not giving away valuable intel, its just a way of keeping the fan base informed and excited about the upcoming draft.

An NBA front office can be surprisingly transparent without revealing its draft board. The key is to discuss process, philosophy, and team-building principles, not specific players.

Here are topics that fans usually appreciate:

    Draft Process
    • How many prospects the team evaluated.
    • What the scouting calendar looks like.
    • The role of college, international, and G League scouting.
    • How analytics and traditional scouting work together.
    • What happens in pre-draft workouts and interviews.
    Example:

"We've spent the last year evaluating hundreds of players across multiple leagues. Our goal is to gather as much information as possible before making any decisions."

    Organizational Philosophy
Without naming prospects, teams can discuss:

    • The importance of character and work ethic.
    • Basketball IQ.
    • Positional versatility.
    • Shooting and spacing.
    • Defensive competitiveness.
    • Long-term development versus immediate contribution.
    Example:

"We're looking for players who fit our culture, compete every day, and can continue growing within our program."

    Current Team Needs (Broadly)
Front offices can discuss roster construction without saying who they're targeting.

    Example:

"Like every team, we're always evaluating ways to improve our shooting, defense, and depth."

    They generally avoid:

    • "We need a center."
    • "We're targeting wings."
    • "We're focused on point guards."
Those statements narrow the field too much.

    Draft Capital Strategy
    Fans are often interested in:

    • How valuable the team's picks are.
    • Whether the organization is open to trades.
    • The benefits of having multiple picks.
    • How future picks affect decision-making.
    Example:

"Having flexibility gives us multiple paths to improve the roster, whether that's through the draft or other opportunities."

    Development Plans
    Teams can explain:

    • Their player development system.
    • How rookies are integrated.
    • The role of the coaching staff.
    • Use of the G League affiliate.
    Example:

"We believe our development program is a major strength and helps young players maximize their potential."

    Historical Context
    Fans enjoy learning:

    • How previous draft picks were evaluated.
    • Lessons learned from past drafts.
    • How the draft process has changed over time.
This provides insight without revealing current plans.

    Fan Engagement Ideas
    Front offices can host:

    • "Ask the GM" sessions.
    • Behind-the-scenes scouting features.
    • Draft-night war room documentaries released after the draft.
    • Analytics explainers.
    • Mock draft exercises showing how difficult decision-making can be.
    What They Usually Avoid
    Competitive disadvantages arise when discussing:

    • Specific prospects.
    • Workout impressions.
    • Internal rankings.
    • Medical evaluations.
    • Trade discussions involving active negotiations.
    • Which players they hope will fall to their pick.
A good rule is: talk about how decisions are made, not who the decisions are about. Fans generally find the process fascinating, and it gives them meaningful insight without revealing strategic information to rival teams.

    Of course not.
    It's deflection across the board.

    - Stone's lawyerly press conferences
    - Ime's narcissism & incompetence...throwing players under the bus..no accountability.
    - The way injuries and reports are handled

    It's their modus operandi.

but thats all just a bunch of generic corporate speak... lol...
Correct me if i'm mistaken... but Stone already gets ragged on for his non-committal generalities...
Being the lawyer type, he keeps his cards close to his vest and doesn't divulge much... and when he goes this route of talking about process and overall vision - y'all eat the man alive for such vagueness....

I mean, if the dude wants to say "we're aggressively trying to find our way into this years draft..." - fine, cool, good intel... and if hes actively making such inquiries then he's not tipping his hand...

but if he's got nothing to say... other than what they already discussed at the end of season presser - then dont bother... imo

The fanbase puts zero pressure on ownership or the FO, so why should they change?

it will be 2028, and these dudes will still be talking about “evaluating the young core” and other BS, and the fanbase will eat it up and just accept it

I think its a diff scenario if you're drafting 3rd and meet with the top 5 or 6 prospects or even talking to guys that "might be there for your mid frp" vs trying to find a steal in the second round... In the latter, you're trying to fly under the radar...

lol. I was thinking the same thing. Plz p0st vidyoz of the werkouts, too, plz!!!!!

Of course then you'd have all the anti-Stone folks yelling when they showed him eating with Banchero.
"OMG, u ate with Banchero!!! You let everybody know you're going to take Banchero!!!" Nevermind Banchero went #1 when everybody thought he'd go #3.

I was thinking about the Banchero lunch too - and how folks lost their mind... lol... While Orlando surprised everyone (incl Banchero) when they selected him #1... i guess they werent worried about engaging with their fanbase... lol

Bottom line is, there aint nothing that the fo can say that wont draw ire - so better they 'shut up and listen." ;) lol

When Tilly was involved, everybody was pissed bc he was fouling things up... now he's removed himself and everybody is pissed bc he's not more active... lol

There is typically no winning with this fan base - unless u r winning... and even then u will have plenty of detractors... so better to just keep their heads down and do their business imo...

Maybe they can send Clutch the bear out for more meet n greets for fan engagement... lol

    Time to urbanize the brand.

The R logo needs codeine dripping from it. Put swangaz on the dunkstronaut, jerseys need to be purple, play screw music only during games and have Paul wall, Slim Thug and Mike Jones courtside at all games.
