Perfect veteran stop gap while you dump Stroud for whatever you can get. Offer him a 3 year, $75 million or 4 year, $100 million extension and if he delusionally thinks he's worth more than that, kick him to the curb. If someone is willing to give up 2 1sts or a 1st and 2nd for him do it regardless.

Look at the Dolphins struggling to get rid of Tua who has had far better and more consistent seasons than Stroud in the lead up to his contract. Stroud is a tier 4 QB, a level below Tua, and if a player doesn't have it- don't force it just because you want a shiny QB.

A veteran QB who minimizes mistakes and makes solid plays is all you need with this solid, soon to be expensive defense.

Jameis is the only stop-gap qb worth discussing. If Mills is off to Miami, Jameis is the guy they should go get

Kirk cousins available to do what? Not play football for the Texans.

Would be the worst move in franchise history.

I think we as fans need to let go the idea that something like this would happen. Only scenario I could see us getting someone like Cousins before 2027 is if Stroud gets hurt and will miss the whole season. But it seems clear to me the front office and coaching staff are not yet convinced that CJ isn't the guy. That probably isn't helped by Darnold winning the championship this year, a guy that has been prone to really bad games in the past. I'm sure they're thinking they can just unlock CJ or whatever.

I think it's a lost cause at this point. If CJ's rookie year was real, then I feel like that potential is ruined, somehow. Either by not protecting him, or the fame going to his head. I don't know, but I don't think he's the guy anymore. But the folk in charge do, so I can't see a Cousins or Jameis or whatever veteran QB that would actually expect to play being signed to this team.

Forget it...just let CJ play his 4th year and see how he does. If it's pretty much the same, then ship him out. I guess they wanted to keep the same coaching staff to have some consistency and make sure CJ is the one.

CJ and Kirk are pretty much the same player.
Unless there’s a ridiculous offer for CJ we need to see how this season goes.

Draft Cole Payton or Taylen Green as developmental QBs.

If you're gonna give up on this team and tank, just play mills, no need to get some horrific old guy.

Mr OG 30 for 30? LMFAO!

Oh he’ll be good for sound bites and Twitter quotes but imploding like CJ did in the playoffs is like a normal Tuesday for Jamies.

Texans fans are so used to losing they almost enjoy the humiliation. 2 years of being exposed and a predictable worst ever playoff performance, and you're still too scared to call it out for what it is.

The Texans need to resign Will Anderson and Daniell hunter. That's not going to be cheap, but they put you over the edge.

In the NFL, due to the short shelf life of players, time is money. You can't keep wasting prime years of impact players so you can feel good.

    ...

relying on CJ IS tanking. Old guys aren't glamorous but they get the job done.

Get some value out of CJ while you can.
