There's zero chance CJ gets brought in for a second contract, he's just another fools gold QB that won off the back of an insane defense or NOTHING on their own after their rookie years. Sanchez, Hurts, Wilson, Flacco, Daniels, Goff, all of them either flamed out or hamstrung their franchises for years. It's clear that the best we can expect from CJ is a second Donovan McNabb, a decent QB that won enough to merit keeping his job, but never won enough to not waste generational talent.

But what do you even do? Houston is back exactly where they were in 2014-2017, QB Hell with no way out and a defense that's too good to warrant tanking.

Also, punting down 12 with 5 minutes to go in a playoff game is disgraceful, especially after wasting two TOs.

None of those things are happening.

    CJ will get next year.

The problem is there’s no way this defense is capable of tanking next season.
    We’re stuck

We are at QB for the next season unless Burrow is really available. If so, then you have to consider trading a bunch of picks for him.

If not, you have to get CJ more weapons. CJ's been bad this year, we can all see that, but at least try to give the guy someone who can make plays for him. Don't just rely on Tank and Mixon getting back healthy. Be aggressive, get another RB to pair with Marks and try to get you another TE for CJ to throw it to since he loves his TEs.

Stroud needs a good to great offensive line. He looks like damage goods currently. I feel being behind **** offensive lines, the hits, concussions, etc. ruined him. Stroud is an organizational failure.

Ya'll are too hard on Stroud.

Stroud just needs a great defense, great offensive line, great playcalling, great run game, and great wide receivers.

Get him that and the Texans can compete for a Super Bowl.

If Cincy is dumb enough to get rid of burrow then hell yea. And this is coming form a CJ supporter. Wouldn’t call him a bust but his play in playoffs is pitiful. He’s James Harden in the postseason.

Good QBs win with dudes off the couch at receiver. Brady's Patriots led the NFL in drops more years than not. Paying skill position players is how you end up like Cincy and missing the playoffs while Burrow puts up 5000 yards and 50 TDs.

Where is the "use the draft and see what you get" option? You don't have to draft first overall to get a serviceable QB pipeline going.

My money is on Mills if there’s a change at qb.

Other than going with Mills, then do that, but who else is out there that will replace him?

I think it would be a waste of a pick 1st round to get a QB? Maybe a QB falls to us but we have WAY too many holes on offense right now to get desperate for a QB.

You get CJ more weapons, tell him its a make or break year, and that's about all I see that can be done rather than breaking the bank for Burrow if he wants out.

But average and above QBs have also done well with more talent around them.

Both can be true. We can't sit here and pretend like offense is loaded with weapons.

We have Nico and....an old TE...and inconsistency every where else.

I'm not arguing against replacing CJ I just don't see any new QBs to bring in to do so. It's either Mills or CJ next year.

You're right. I'm curious what direction they take. As bad as CJ was they had a chance which is insane. I feel like under an experienced OC, CJ will be better but he still lacks the alpha leadership required to win it all.

You have to do what you can to fix the holes. We need a reliable QB and weapons. The best way to get a reliable QB is free agency, I fear.

Draft weapons, OL, and LBs and throw money at Mac Jones or maybe even Kyler Murray as bridge QBs. Begin scouting college QBs again and be ready to pounce when your guy is there in 27 or 28.

Trust me, I don’t like Kyler Murray, but running it back with CJ is the definition of insanity. He cannot be trusted. Move on.

How did CJ go from record-setting, ROY, NFL ALL-PRO to total garbage?

I agree he needs that too. The lines they have had Stroud playing behind most of his career is a joke though and I'm afraid because of the hits he's taken behind bad lines, he's damaged goods.

An experienced OC doesn’t make CJ suddenly not lob the ball everywhere as he did today. If you solely can play QB I only when your WRs are constantly schemed open, you won’t last long.

His “touch” turned to weak throws without confidence that turned into picks. Solely getting a new OC but keeping his arm is a really big bet, and this defense’s window is open. Do you really bet that on CJ?
