the way i see it the rockets aren't interested in trae young because rocket still believe reed sheppard can be the starting PG in the future.

 

So the Hawks traded Luka Doncic for CJ McCollum, Corey Kispert and Cam Reddish

If Trae was just going for expiring salary we could just let him be the PG now while Reed learns to be the PG in the future. KD is 37 we can't just wait for him to figure it out.

Made the ECF in his 3rd year, became the villain in NY (lol) & downhill since. (Injuries, coaches, defense, shooting, team better without him, making $46M and due for an extension.)

No one really believes he preferred Washington. More like one of the few (only?) team interested in him.

There's bad defense, there's really bad defense, and then there's Trae Young.

He's still a really good offensive player, but he gives so much back on defense his actual impact on the game isn't remotely close to what his offensive stat line would suggest. The fact that no team in the league wanted him for even a simple salary dump tells you everything.

The Hawks were never gonna be able to move forward with him masquerading as the top guy. It sucks to give away a player for nothing but they absolutely need a culture reset.

 

The defense is good enough. It's diminishing returns at this point. I don't want to lose games 95-93. We can afford to lose some defense for more offense.

I want the ball out of their hands a bit more. I want them to catch the ball in positions to score rather than having to work so hard for it all the time. Sengun and KD are deadly play finishers not just play starters. Sorry but it's hard to believe the "there's only one ball" argument when we still have possessions that end in Aaron Holiday dribble drives.

 

No. Trae was free for a reason.

he’s fun to watch and the best play in game player ever - but he’s not worth building a team around and would not fit a team with championship aspirations like us.

 

Not to mention how much he needs to dominate the ball

 

You don't need to build around someone's that's free. That's why he's free. He could come off the bench and play 25 minutes. Did you not see the minutes the other night with no KD? Every time we'd have to rely on Holiday or Jabari or Eason to create against a set defense in the halfcourt you could have Trae doing it. If he sucks bench him. That's the beauty of free.

You don’t trade for a player like Trae young and bench him and only play him 25 min.

dude he dominates the ball and plays no defense - there’s a reason no winning team wanted any part of him.
