As ridiculous as OP is, I do think this team has the least amount of connection to Houston that we have ever seen for a group of players. When the Rockets PR people interviewed the players on basic Houston terms and culture beginning of the season, very few other than Jeff Green (who has spent more years in a Rockets uniform than any of the other dozen or so teams he has played for) actually had a clue about the questions. Granted this is a younger team so they have not been in the city that long, you still feel like they are visiting for a job vs actually becoming Houstonians. DB would braid the logo into his hair, Jalen always put up the H, Harden really embraced Houston from the start. I think KD probably is the only other player who knows the city and that is because hes a 19 year vet that has spent a lot of time in Texas by just being in the league as long as he has (1 year at UT + 19 years of away games at 3 Texas teams, he is also close enough to Harden that he would hang with him in off season). Alpi has the longest tenure of the younger guys, and he is usually in Turkey in the off season, I genuinely do not think the players understand the Dallas rivalry and that they should be playing with extra motivation these games. Anthony Davis absolutely does and he has destroyed the Rockets in a Mavs uniform. With no Jalen, no Harden, no Dillon, no Gerald Green, etc we don't really have anyone who really represents the name on the front of the jersey anymore. I think if Tari signs long term, he will be more vocal about supporting the city and embracing it, part of me thinks he wants to do that but not sure if he will be around long term.
Go Houston and all, but this is a stretch. Just because Anthony Davis has had some big games against us recently, not sure how you are drawing the conclusion it’s because of the Houston-Dallas rivalry. More likely something about the way we defend him.
The real disgrace in the city of Houston is all the empty seats at rockets games over the last 25 yrs despite having one of the winningest records in the west over that time period.
