lol. Doubling down on size and physicality. How beat up is the rest of the league gonna be after playing Houston next season. Lol
There goes that physicality word again. I hope they will give Kd plenty of rest day at his age with all this physicality coming up this season
Seems obvious, but then you've got dumb takes like Hollinger saying the Rockets have no wings and others saying the Rockets desperately need a SG, so it's best to have the obvious spelled out.
On offense KD can be whatever the hell he wants to be. On defense he's not chasing Jalen Williams and Ants around in the playoffs. If he is, then the Rockets are in serious trouble. On defense right now, KD is mostly a PF.
If true, seems like they didnt value Jalen being "the only guard with his skill set" like a lot of fans did. I guess being fast and running line drives at the rim isnt as valuable as having actual offensive skill.
Durant will be the shooting guard on offense and guard some wings, power forwards and stretch fives on defense. Amen Thompson will be guarding most shooting guards the Rockets face.
Positionless basketball. Amen will be assigned to the Ant’s and Sga’s of the world at least initially. The Rockets have basically put together a great team defense model with lots of long guys that switch. They are going to suffer against some teams with FVV because contrary to what people believe he gets targeted by taller athletic guards and has a lost a step staying in front of quick guards. That is what team defense is. Nobody has 5 perfect defensive players. We are going to be top 3 for sure at defense and rebounding.
"You take that back! I'm going to tell! MOM!! 750's being mean again!" - @ashleyem "@cml750 , stop being mean to Ash!"
Having bigs hide on Amen and smalls get into KD’s dribble has the makings of no rim pressure and a mediocre offense.
Much of the time on offense in the NBA, I don't think there is an identifiable difference between SG and SF. I consider them the "swing" positions that play off the ball, usually on the perimeter. So, calling KD a SG doesn't mean anything IMO. After the disastrous failure of the Fred/Jalen backcourt last year, I don't blame the Rockets for wanting a base offense of 1 PG, 3 wings, 1 center. I am totally good with this. My only concern is at least one of the wing players should also be able to bring the ball upcourt. On the other end of the floor, I also see the 1-3-1 concept as a way to make a very good defense even better. As stated in another thread, I believe they are trying to copy OKC's defense.
This doesn’t change anything, it’s Amen and KD at the 2 and 3 and Amen guards the SGs and KD the SFs.
I thought the idiot list was retired with the rabid Sengtards in those first couple of years? Are we going to start calling people badly spelled pre-teen style insults too? lol.
