Stupid ad algorithms. They know I live in Houston. Somehow, my cheapness keeping me from buying tickets against prominent draw opponents has made them think I'm a White Sox or a Twins fan. Instead of getting ads centered around the Astros to go see the game, I'm getting them centered around the opponents.
Good news: Not much power. Buxton leads team w/ 11 HR. Larnoch w/ 10 is only other player over 6 and he sucks vs LHP. Buxton, Correa, Castro, and Jeffers all crush LHP but the rest of the roster is very weak. Larnach, Lee, Vazquez, and Clemens are all 31 wRC+ or worse. Lee has started almost every game vs LHP due to no options. Neither Clemens, nor Wallner have started a single game vs LHP this season.
Just saw Paredes in the clubhouse. He was smiling, said he felt good. We’ll know more later today but we’re optimistic and expect to see him in the lineup at some point this weekend.
“He’s doing good man. It’s just a little discomfort but he woke up today feeling better, really wanting to play but we are going to give him a few days off” -Espada today “Turns out it was a pretty serious strain and he still hasn’t done any baseball activities. It’s feeling a lot better though and we are hoping he can hit off a T tomorrow” -Espada three weeks from now
The worst thing about Paredes getting hurt is that Paredes got hurt. The 2nd worst thing about Paredes getting hurt is the incoming tsunami of posts about his recovery and the Astros "lying" to you
The last time Whitcomb played 3b he honestly looked like he had never played baseball before in his life. Like it was “play a fan” day at the park
There is a conspiracy theory out there that he was still drunk from the post game celebration. Clearly, he is not up to Astros' standards but desperate times, as they say. Maybe he can be only slightly bad, like maybe 20th-25th worst 3b in MLB and be good enough with the bat to keep Dubon at 2b?
Cam Smith is a natural 3B. He's been impressive in RF, I bet he'd be equally so at the position he's played his whole career. What about him at 3B while Paredes is out, with Whitcomb or whoever in RF?
