I love that not only during season, but now damn near every game, Kerr, Curry and Butler keep telling Buddy (stop dribbling, just shoot) I think of how Game 1 Bari had 4 turnovers just trying to dribble / create when all he had to do was pull up I’m praying tonight is the Bari game because he’s legit our secret weapon off bench to spread GS out
Yea less dribbling for Bari for sure. He needs to be setup for open 3 and we really need to hunt for height advantages with him on low block so that he can just shoot over as he has shown ability to hit this shot at high percentage.
*IF* he dribbles he needs to be deliberate and focused Two Dribbles to your spot and boom shot it Don't try to drive all the way to the basket (at least not while dribbling) I truly trust him to shoot from anywhere on the court right about now Rocket River Moreso than others
If Ime was smart, that’s what he would do, look at how GS setup Post and GPJ for corner 3s the only players we see consistently get corner 3s on Rockets is Jeff Green and Tate
He needs to find his way around the mid-range area with a smaller player on him just as much as he does a corner three. Limiting him to just catch and shoot is removing one of his biggest weapons. I'm not saying to run a whole offense around him, but set a few plays up for it to naturally happen as a 2nd or 3rd option early in the shot clock. In fact, this goes for our whole team, we need to be more decisive and get into an offense earlier
This. I think Jabari needs more playing time but he is a liability on offense when he isn’t catching and shooting or making the right pass.
I actually think we can do both. The problem is that he cant move around the court while dribbling the ball, that's where he gets into trouble. I don't want him dribbling off a screen, or dribbling from the perimeter into his spot. What he needs to do is get into position without the ball, then we get him the ball and let him shoot from that area without dribbling. Like you said, we can set up plays for this to happen naturally. I don't think turning him into Ariza is the BEST way to use him. But I still don't think he should ever try to move with the basketball.
He's not that bad at the KD "1-2 dribbles then use your long 6'11" strides to finish" style of driving. He tries to do too much and get too fancy with it.
Yeah that's a good example, I didn't even think of him. What was that viral youtube video from like a decade ago? 50 points on 7 dribbles or some **** like that? We need a Jabari version of that.
