You truly are the gift that keeps on giving

Your replacements repeatedly try their best to bungle it, but you were the greatest baseball GM of the 21st century and did all you could to dummy proof the future

You are welcome back any time

I will always feel Crane made a colossal mistake going beyond MLB's one year suspension and firing Luhnow and Hinch. I am convinced dirty ass Manfred compelled Crane to do it so that he could black ball Luhnow. It's weird that Hinch got hired within minutes of his suspension being over, but Luhnow hasn't been approached by anybody.

I thought he made another mistake by letting Click go. That’s not a slam on Dana Brown.

Agreed. Click did great work the short time he was here. The bullpen he was able to assemble in 2022 was unforgettable.

Maybe if you only look at player acquisition, Click did a good job.

But he didn't play well with others or respect Crane's direction.

Also, it has been reported that he was involved and in favor of the Montero extension and FA offer to Abreu. They just were finalized after he was fired. ( for a very fair and appropriate reason BTW)

Agree to disagree. We don’t really know if he played nice with others but we do know that’s not really his job. I liked him. He’s a smart dude. He had to pull rank on stubborn Dusty a couple of times, big deal. That shows he’s confident in what he’s doing.

Why hasn’t anybody else hired Luhnow? Why hasn’t anybody else made Click a GM?

I mean…we do know that he didn’t play nice with others. @Nook has commented on this many times.

You are right, we don't know everything.

There is no public confirmation that he liked the Montero and Abreu deals or that he did things Jim Crane specifically told him not to.

Just rumor, and unsubstatiated reports, really.

And much of that could be Click simply doing what most executives at the time did, and not realizing Crane wouldn't turn a blind eye.

But we saw and heard him complaining about his treatment and the offer that Jim Crane made him being unacceptable.

And then Jim Crane fired him for that.

Crane was never gonna let that go.

Should we look into trading him now? Procrastination is opportunity’s assassin.

    That's what I was saying.

I can say I believe @Nook and his comments. But that's different than saying they are verified to be true.

That’s fair. I thought there had been other reports out there from reputable sources but I could be wrong

A very good question, I think we know why Luhnow hasn't been hired, Click I've got no idea.

I believe 100% that Luhnow being fired was part of the punishment and had Crane not agreed to it there would have been much harsher punishments elsewhere....like taking away the world series as an example and taking more draft picks...up to forcing Crane to sell the team.

This has been as close to being officially reported (without being officially reported… because that opens up to all sort of potential litigation/etc.).

I think him not even getting an interview… let alone another GM or head of player development role by now (more than 5 years later) speaks volumes.

He was unofficially banned by Manfred. Won’t get a chance to get back in till Manfred is gone.

Jeff Luhnow really nailed it when he drafted Hunter Brown. That pick’s been a total game-changer, and we’ve seen the results.
