If everything has to be built around Jalen, I think maybe this Rockets is going to be over quick.

I agree with you, the packed paint is for sure not doing Jalen any good. But, why can't Jalen improve his shooting? why can't Jalen develop other attack skills like floater or lob threat? Was CC very good at shooting from the beginning? Jalen is just behind, way behind after four years.

If Jalen can only be effective without Amen starting, then it's time for the management to make a decision.

I dunno if they have to start Bari. Possibly but I think they like Amen’s attacking and playmaking in addition to jalen. This can still work if only they have better spacing and exploit that weak side corner and wing. Its there all day since Warriors load up every play. But i do like Bari because no warrior can guard him. None. They’re a small team and bari brings another dimension to them.

I think each Houston Fan ist very mad about the performance of Jalen and Fred but that was the first game. I think its important to stay cool. It will be never happen, that the player all shot the ball so badly. Important is, that Fred and Jalen stop doing solo things if their shots dont go in. Fred forced 3 Pointer and Jalen forced a lot of times solo plays. They didnt worked so stop doing that and its gg.

 

Agree and disagree. Amen can still start as long as SOMEONE can hit from outside, but if nobody can then Udoka has to be willing to make substitutions. He can't be stubborn when Jalen and Fred can't hit a damn thing. An 8 man rotation doesn't do you any damn good when 1/4 of it doesn't pull their weight.

Before we address that, Jalen needs to learn how to be effective without being the center of attention. First, he can start by playing team basketball instead of taking heavily contested shots. Jalen, focus on learning how to pass, when to pass.

It's ok, Jalen can get to the rim whenever he wants. He just didn't want to in game one.

 

We have two teams on this roster and that's a larger discussion for the future. Do you want to build this team around Sengun and FVV or do you want to build this team around Green and Amen? Because when Amen plays with Sengun, he's a role player and Sengun deserves to be surrounded by 4 shooters.

Here are the two best options we have right now:

Sengun and 4 shooters:

Sengun
Jabari
Brooks
Green (off-ball)
FVV

or

Amen/Green pace and space with 3 shooters:

Jabari
Tari
Amen
Green
Holiday

We should be using the first one as our starting lineup and the second one as our bench unit. That's how we get to slightly below average spacing with this shooting-challenged roster. Pace can somewhat minimize the lack of space, so the second unit will actually be very transition-focused attacking backtracking defenders. A little bit more pace can help Green, Amen and Tari get going in general.

 

I think Amen / Green / KD / Jabari/ Sengun would solve a lot of our problems for a year or two until Tari, Cam, or Reed is ready to start
