Feel bad for Brantley, this sucks. If Click had any inclination or idea this was a high possibility during the trade deadline then this is a failure on him. Yes you got Mancini which in theory would be a replacement but it’s really not since the Astros are treating him like a bench player.

I was hoping he might be a bench bat at some point in the playoffs. Something he could grit through and give you a solid AB with a guy in scoring position or something where a single would be beneficial.
I think Mancini has to play 1B in the post-season though. You can’t let Yuli start games when it counts. I wonder if they made a run at JD Martinez. He would fill that hole well.
I feel like I am wasting my time but here goes. Yuli is on this team and therefore Dusty will play him. What I really hope is that Dusty starts maximizing potential by playing him in the correct games. Yuli is better on the road (.699) than at home(.634) Yuli is better vs power pitchers (.720) than finesse pitchers (.614) Yuli is better vs LHP(.746) than RHP (.634) Yuli is better is 6th spot of lineup (.861) than anywhere else in the lineup ( .669 2nd, .529 5th) So if 2+ of the 3 match ups favor Yuli then play him and hit him 6th in the lineup. If 1 or fewer then Mancini plays 1B. That's just the start but it helps.
Our offense was good last year, and we didn't win a championship. This season our offense has been very average, and we made minor deals at the deadline. Does the front office expect to get over the hump this postseason. We danced around the pool with our toes instead of doing a cannon ball into the deep end.
