Would you be willing to trade Jalen Green for another Top 4 Pick in this draft? Let's assume the Rockets walk away with 1st or 2nd Pick, Jalen nets them the 4th Pick. That means the Rockets could walk away with Chet Holmgren AND Jabari Smith or Chet Holmgren AND Jaden Ivey or Jabari Smith AND Jaden Ivey, etc. Name your combination of players. Remember, Kevin Porter Jr. is naturally a SG with some playmaking skills not a natural PG plus you would still have Christopher, KPJ, Sengun, Tate, etc. You also still have the 17th Pick to grab another player this draft or package with someone to move up. Are there 2 guys in this draft that think the Rockets should absolutely try to get and it's worth moving Jalen Green for one? If so, who would they be? I'd go with Chet and Jabari P.G. - Daishen Nix (6 - 5) S.G. - KPJ (6 - 5) S.F. - Jabari Smith (6 - 10) P.F. - Chet Holmgren (7 - 0) ..C. - Alperen Sengun (6 - 10)
NO! To me, Green is completely untouchable. Everyone we are looking at in this draft should be evaluated on their fit with Jalen anyway. Trading our prized rookie (who finished the season strong) for a pick would be weird.
Why? You don't think Stone looking at all options to improve wouldn't consider such a move? You don't know if he thinks there is someone more unique and better suited for what he wants to do. All options should be on the table when in a complete rebuild.
I would trade Green for Morant Doncic Giannis Probably a person or so Im missing but I think thats it.
You never know with this front office. They're a swing for the fences kind of organization. Anything is possible. I'm not saying Jalen isn't worth keeping, just asking Clutchfans if they'd like to have someone in this draft more.
Jalen IS the swing for the fences. No chance I would trade him for any pick in this draft including #1
Trading a clearly talented rookie for the chance to pair two unknown rookies together just to accommodate KPJ back into his natural position? Aside from how stupid that would b to throw away a year of development of both Green/KPJ, u forget the future implication of strengthening the 1) thunders, 2) magic, 3) pistons. Imagine giving pistons Green to pair up with Cade just for potential improvement. Hard pass.
Anthony Edwards look good. Trae young? debatable especially after that lackluster performance in this recent playoffs. If u feelin really ballsy, Zion.
Hell no. But Sengun and CW, EG or JT for a top pick? KPJ J Green Eason Jabari Chet That I would do. Highly doubt any team would take the offer though.
If u truly want to swing for the fence. Trading Green for Zion or Green for Wembaya r interesting trades to ponder. ( i would never do it) It is literally a career defining move for Stone.
Tough choice because Corey Brewer might have been a top 4 pick in this draft. Will have to sleep on it and vote tomorrow.
On a Rockets forum, the poll is likely majority NO. . Another scenario is that pretend you're the GM of other team, would you trade your starting SG for Green. Also assume if you trade for Green, you're getting that cheap rookie contract too, but you might not get what you need if in win-now mode. Donovan Mitchell Devin Booker James Harden Zach Lavine Jaylen Brown Paul George Bradley Beal Klay Thompson #you can argue Green over the next three, but some of these teams are win-now Fred VanVleet Jordan Poole CJ McCollum ------------------------------------------ I probably draw the line here, where Rocket fans can make a case. Gary Paton II Desmond Bane Terry Rozier Josh Hart Diallo Hamidou Bogdan Bogdavnovic Anfernee Simons De'Anthony Melton Caris Levert Kelly Oubre Jr. Gary Trent Jr. Malik Monk RJ Barrett Seth Curry Amir Coffey Buddy Hield ... and many others. --------------------------------------- This is a 2021-22 SG list of Hollinger's ranking of Shooting guards by PER, which is not the end all be all. To keep our endowment effect in check, JGreen is ranked 48th of 50. If we sort by TS%, he falls out of the top 50 for guards. Green takes tough shots... so there's other contexts, but just saying as a team, there's still lot of room to grow. If we look through the list and see which other GMs would clutch their pearls. The line is much higher for Green because, one is banking on potential, him continue to grow, and hopefully not running into a sophomore slump. So we probably put Green above many solid SG role players.
