Each and every year around the trade deadline EG comes up with a mysterious injury. Wood, on the other hand, is just injury prone….has the worst ankles in the league. We’re going absolutely nowhere this year, so let’s (for once) be proactive with these guys and ensure they are healthy going into the trade deadline in a couple of weeks. Gordon has gifted us with great play (45% 3s) and can do nothing to increase his trade value. Pretty much the same with Wood. Sit them before they get hurt and cost us first round picks!!!!!
I'm okay with sitting Eric out. Give Josh his minutes. The potential trading partners will want to see EG playing well before the deadline though. Wood is somewhat injury prone, but he’s much younger than Eric. He can recover more quickly, and he needs to show professionalism before he can get traded. I don't see any reason to keep Wood on the bench. Theis is the dark horse choice to be moved, his trade value is going to be low imo. Only a contender, would want him, and their picks are going to be low.
i agree on gordon, not on wood. the thunder have caught up to us in tanking. once gordon sits out we should go on like a ten game losing streak.
Eric Gordon's trade value is dependent on the potential contenders who can knock down the Warriors. The defending champions and the Suns seem to be the only teams that may need him. I don't know their salary cap and contracts. @BimaThug
You're going to need a team that: 1. Has control of their own 1st round draft picks or another team's 1st rounder....preferably within the next 3 years 2. Enough salaries to send back to Houston that won't require taking on more than 2 players 3. At least has a chance to advance past the first round of the playoffs and/or really desperate to win now 4. Needs a two-way player in the backcourt Using this list you get it down to: East teams: Bulls Cavs Hornets Celtics West teams: Suns Mavericks The other playoff teams either don't have 1st rounders they can trade unless we look beyond 2026 (e.g. Utah, Milwaukee, etc.) or they don't really need Gordon as their backcourt is already deep (Miami, Memphis, etc.). Boston might be crossed out depending on where they want to go with their team this season as they're trying to avoid paying the luxury tax for 2022. Bulls...you're looking at Derrick Jones' expiring contract, Troy Brown's expiring contract and that Top 14 protected 2022 1st via Portland. Bulls have Lavine and DeRozan but I'm sure getting Gordon would solidify at least a top 4 finish for them as Ball is out for the next month or so and Lavine is still getting back from his injury. Cavs...they got our much talked about hypothetical trade of Rubio and a 1st for Gordon. Unfortunately Cleveland is rumored to have their eyes on Caris Levert in a straight swap without picks involved. Hornets...From an asset standpoint they have New Orleans' 2022 1st but that's Top 14 protected so most likely that won't be realized. They could deal a 2024 1st but in exchange for Gordon what would Houston want back? Oubre has one more year after this year at $12 million. Ish Smith has $4.5 million coming in for next season. PJ Washington could be a possibility but he's due for an extension next year I believe. Suns...it'll be interesting because Gordon would be the perfect backup for Booker and he's worked well with CP3 before. Only problem is that they are going to get hit with a huge luxury tax bill next year when Mikal's and Cameron Johnson's extensions start. Ayton is also hitting RFA IIRC. A pupu platter of Saric, Shamet and Jalen Smith works but then we would have to cut a couple of players. Mavericks...THJr and a 2025 1st for Gordon? Stone would be doing Dallas a huge favor in this scenario because Hardaway's not only more expensive per season but he also has one more year on his contract vs Gordon's. Stone better squeeze out two 1sts if he's willing to take back Hardaway's contract.
Silas also needs to be sit before this franchise is moved to Las Vegas.... i dont care if you need to give up 2 FRPs or whatever just get rid of him ASAP for ALAP
Not convinced on Silas yet. Players love him because he is easygoing and not a disciplinarian. Team played defense for a few games, but I still believe that Lucas is the brains behind the success. He holds early morning trainings and works on the side with most of the successful players. Silas is a figurehead coach and the defensive and offensive development of the players is most likely coming from Lucas’ effort.
Agree with bringing them off the bench and playing them very cautiously. If they don't like being here, makes it unnecessarily difficult for the rest of the guys just trying to improve.
