How will the Rockets play with Green's Return?

  1. We continue playing like a bubble team fighting for their life, 30 wins.

With the prodigal son returning sometime next week, Green needs at least 30 minutes per game once again. Regardless of how he plays, this will turn out for the best.

    Either:

    A. Jalen Green improves after watching the game for a bit and decompressing, perhaps some time out of the spotlight is what the doctor ordered? If so, this team is set for the forseeable future, and our rebuild might just finish before we lose our FRP again.

    Or:

    B. Jalen continues his crappy play and we return to our losing ways. Great! Skinny 19 year old guards rarely contribute to winning anyway, and it does wonders for our tank odds. Chet/Paolo/Jabari here we come!

But what do y'all think, how will the team react and who should get their minutes reduced (pro tip: House)?

Honestly, Green needs to come off the bench.

Jalen Green was finally put in a 1 big lineup not sharing the floor with Tate, Theis, and Wood, and proceeded to drop 11 points in the 1st quarter before getting injured

not saying he’s just gonna be amazing from here on out because he’s still a flawed, inconsistent rookie, but 2 big lineups ain’t it and putting an end to that will only help Green

he has blow by ability, but the paint was always more packed than Chick-Fil-A on a Friday with the lack of spacing

It sucks that Mobley is outperforming other rookies so well but Green needs to take it easy, he should earn his starting spot rather than let him jack bad shots all the time.

Speaking of Green returning, do we have an estimate on when that might be? Have the rockets said anything since the day after his injury?

Agreed! I don't understand why so many people are opposed to letting him focus on strengthening. 2 hamstring injuries in 3 months.. RED Flag!

Spacing works in his favor. Like the other Rockets, starts feeling good
about the feel of the Rockets offense.

Phase 2 has been implemented.....cutters and slashers.
    Now things are getting fun.

We have "Wilt Chamberlain" Tate...... So forget about it!!!!!

    that lineup had no chance

Theis and Wood don’t space the floor, and neither moves around off-ball…they just occupied space…then u had another non-shooter in Tate

now the lane is a lot more open and the offense has more movement

If the braiding KPJ's hair made him that much better, I wonder what shaving Greens head bald would do

Green was just getting his good form going, then he got injured. 11 first quarter points and a 4-game stretch where he was more aggressive and starting to believe he can really play in the NBA

That's definitely your opinion but is it honest?

    i would say no.

Maybe 'Earnestly" is what you should go for.

    Stop

force feeding is not the answer . He has high expectations and I’m sure he’d like to meet them . Make him earn it first .

brooks laid it out there tonight . Kpj been getting better . Tate deserves a Bigger
Role. Green doesn’t need a lions share of minutes . Give him 15-25 depending on situation . If he looks great play him more .
It won’t kill his confidence , it hasn’t killed sengun

Jalen Green in his last 5 games

    48/31/82 shooting splits…61% TS

Now he’s actually gonna have some space when he drives the lane?

Also - I don't even know why we're having this argument given that there's no indication he's coming back and he hasn't even been cleared to practice according to Silas earlier today.

    He's only being re-evaluated I thought. If it's a hammy I'd guess he's out 2-3 weeks just so he doesn't reinjure it.

TBH I'd rather see Green fight for his minutes over Gordon, Brooks and Mathews. Brooks' has shot 18/39 from 3 over the past 5 and playing some good solid basketball. If/when the team moves Gordon then that clears up the minutes situation a bit better, but I don't think he should just be given minutes if he's playing massively negative plus/minus minutes.

Who knows how the hell Wall fits into all that now that he wants back in...

It sure is, I think he needs to learn the NBA game - and would benefit from coming off the bench - then when we trade Gordon I would slide him into the starting lineup assuming he is ready.
