The Portland Trail Blazers opened an investigation into Neil Olshey — the president of basketball operations — with employees alleging a toxic, hostile work environment where staff members have been subjected to intimidation and profanity-laced tirades, among other bullying tactics, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The organization enlisted the services of O’Melveny & Myers to run the independent investigation, and the firm began interviewing employees of the team’s front office off-site this week, with several staffers expressing the relief because of the investigation after 10 years of mistreatment leading to mental and physical stress, sources said.

Olshey, 56, was hired by the franchise in 2012. Over his decade as the top basketball decision-maker, multiple employees assert to have had multiple grievances with his treatment of staff in the workplace, sources said.

Furthermore, several staff members raised concerns with the organization’s “mishandling” after the death of former video coordinator Zach Cooper in April 2020, sources said.

The firm is shortly expected to submit its findings to team owner Jody Allen, and a decision on Olshey’s future will be determined soon after, sources said.

Most staff members are hopeful that the investigation brings change after feeling voiceless and unheard for so long, sources said.

Olshey is just the General Manager/President of Basketball Operations for the Blazers.

Jody Allen (after brother Paul Allen passed away a few years ago) owns the Seahawks/Blazers

Not to make light of the situation, but this is the perfect time for Lillard to try and leave the organization without having his loyalty questioned.

Lakers and 76ers sending out Investigators to destroy the Trailblazers Organization and forcing them to trade Damian Lillard.

Very Fishy the timing of this, with Ben Simmons holding out until a forced trade.

Danny Ainge Could Be Next Blazers GM If Neil Olshey Is Fired

The Portland Trail Blazers are in the midst of an investigation into workplace misconduct on the part of General Manager Neil Olshey. While that investigation is still in its early days, there is speculation it could result in Olshey being fired.

If Portland does move on from Olshey, there is an expectation that former Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations Danny Ainge could be a target to run the team's basketball operations. Ainge retired from Boston's front office at the end of the 2021 season and has remained a consultant to Brad Stevens and the Celtics.

At this point, there is no indication that Ainge would be interested in running the Blazers front office.

Ainge is from Oregon, having grown up in Eugene. Ainge was a three-sport star at North Eugene High School. Ainge garnered first-team All-American honors in football, basketball and baseball.
