Phoenix is like, nah. I am leaning towards agreeing with Phoenix. He is worth a good contract, but not max. What say the collective? Will he develop more and be worth the money? Can the Suns fill his spot respecatbly with half the money?
He averaged 14 & 10 with 1 block last year... people are crazy. The dude should do cartwheels for a 4/100
I didn't think Ayton was the best player in his Draft coming in, that honor went to JJJ who I fancied the next KG. 14-10 looks pretty bad, but a 65% TS with a .190 WS/48 makes him a valuable player. That's good for 20th in the NBA. But WS and WS/48 aren't perfect stats. Clint Capela and Montrezl Harrel and other efficient dunking Cs make the top list often. His impact is similar to Clint Capela and should be paid as such. 4 years, $80 Million.
now everybody that is above average want a max.... it was designed for the superstars only. I know everybody wants bread but nba teams should just stop giving it to anybody
Smart play by the Suns. He’s a restricted free agent. If the two sides disagree on his value, let the market set his price. The suns can decide then if they want him at the market price. The good thing is, if a team signs him for a price higher than the Suns are comfortable with, they can always negotiate a sign-and-trade to recoup some value.
Based of Ayton’s defense I think he’s worth this max. It won’t be a super max deal for 43 million. His max would probably be more like 29 million a year. I’d pay him that to transform my defense overnight. Plus he finishes around the basket. Sure he doesn’t score and assist that much but he does a lot for the game just like Bill Russell did a lot for it. Pay him Phoenix! You don’t let that kind of ability walk.
I think Phoenix knows teams won’t over pay for his services and will probably match the market offers.
Good owner isnt the one that just gives money lol give me max performances you will get max money…. Nowhere in the world you get this type of money on promise(unless you find very dumb payer)
Is he worth Max ....... no But all these players getting crazy deals, Ayton should be really close to the max.
He's definitely better than Capela. He can hit FTs. He can create in the block. If Capela gets 20M per, Ayton should get at least 25-30M a year.
Someone will pay him the max. The Spurs have a projected $41 million in capspace next summer and the Pistons aren't far behind with $39 million. Charlotte could create capspace to add to its projected $26 million if they want and make a nucleus of Ayton and Ball. Ayton might not have the "look" of a max player but he can give you 20/10 while playing solid defense. The kid is only 23 years old and should continue to improve.
Yeah someone will pay him. Expect him to sit out at the moment he has any sort of minor injury. As his agent, that is what I would tell him to do. Heck, if MPJ can get a max extension, why not Ayton?
