I highly doubt Phoenix is making back to the Finals any time soon. Getting to the Finals this season was the greatest thing to happen to CP3, because it ensured lots of money. Imagine if the Suns lost to an AD-less Lakers team. Suns overpaid this man.
I feel the same way. It's hard to see them improve unless Ayton takes a massive leap into being a top 10 kind of player. Right now they are just a really tough out in a playoff series. Easily putting them behind the Clippers, Lakers, and Warriors next season.
Here's what I think is an important gauge for valuing bigs: free-throw attempts. Ayton has been at 2.5 for his career. So it doesn't look like he's capable of being a focal point offensively. His greatest contributions will be on defense and rebounding. He could work on being unstoppable in those two areas. He is already a solid rebounder, but he was off his entire game against the Bucks.
Supposedly the last year is not fully guaranteed, which makes a lot more sense for PHX. Bucher even reported that the 3rd year was not fully guaranteed, but I don't trust Bucher.
That would exclude State Farm and Jordan Brand / Nike deals. I am sure CP has other endorsements, that is a cool $500M+
