why does it seem like this team turns to **** whenever he is missing? Say what you want about his inconsistency but man it feels like nothing is the same when he is absent. His first year when we sent to him back to the g league to save money we started losing a bunch of games When he had to sit out in the bubble we werent even competive anymore. Look at us now. Is it a coincidence or is he somehow the glue guy that holds **** together?
Because while he’s a bottom tier SF, he’s still actually an SF. Putting undersized SG’s that can’t shoot or rebound at the 3 either makes a small team even smaller or kills spacing.
He’s not a ultimate glue guy, he just happens to be 6’7 and a passable shooter. How many of those have we had in recent years? IMO this speaks more about our rosters than D House’s skills.
I think people underestimate the impact of not re-signing Ariza. It's not just losing an important role player, it's also losing a good chunk of non-trash contract to package with other assets to make trades to get better. This is particularly important for team over the cap because signing FAs is very restrictive. Remember that year when Butler demanded a trade, Wolves was asking Gordon + Tucker + 2 FRPs, but Morey was only giving Knight + Chris + 4 FRPs? I can understand Morey's hesitation to not give up both Gordon and Tucker because this can make our rotation quite short. But if we had Ariza, there would be no reason not be make that trade.
BMac should be mentioned in there too. Even in tonights debacle he was +12 and played quite well. When Dhouse and Bmac get a fair amount of minutes we are a much better team. Silas rotations seem quite questionable and are often head scratchers.
So it's been two weeks since he woke up with a stiff back. Has a reporter asked Silas what's going on with him?
he had COVID. Not contact tracing...he had it himself. Minimum quarantine period is like 2 weeks for that alone. Add that to the back and the time he will need to get back into game shape, and that explains why he’s still out. Also, given our surplus of depth now, I don’t think we are in any kind of rush.
