Offensive innovator and good late game play caller. Only issue would be that harden might not agree to the play calling.

Please yes. Harden / JVG combo will be amazing I think. It needs to be announcer JVG and not clinging onto Alonzo Mourning's leg JVG tho. Harden needs a coach with some serious sarcasm.

I'd welcome JVG back with open arms! Get him some young upncomer to focus on the offense and let JVG do player mgmt and oversee the defensive effort...
JVG always seemed demanding - but loved and respected by his players... imo thats what we need... someone who can actually push our guys and hold them accountable - without totally pissing them off.

Need a new coach, have nba finals experience, playoff overachiever.
In 2008 playoffs, MDA Suns won 55 games in the regular season, only won 1 game in playoffs.
lost 1:4 in the first round.

Suns core, Nash, Marion, Amare, joe Johnson
    In 2008
Shaq, Grant Hill, Boris Diaw, Raja Bell, Barbosa,

Man I hate these options, obviously owner-driven.

Thibs was totally out of touch with the modern NBA last he coached. Would be a shame to waste Harden's last prim year or two on Thibs' barking mediocre instructions.

    Funny...

    JVG: (BBS) HELL YES!
    Thibodeau: (BBS) GOD NO!

"It’s interesting to see Thibs’ name in there now. Because you have a guy who was Jeff’s top assistant when Jeff was the Rockets coach. Van Gundy and Thibs being from the same tree..."

Do I need to go dig up all the JVG (hate) threads from yesteryear? :D:rolleyes:

    Edit: Already did:

Folks only like him because he's a "Houstonian" (never leaving since being fired) and is the only on on ESPN who likes the Rockets @tinman

Love JVG, one of my all-time favorite coaches, but this roster doesn’t work with his style at all. I think hiring him for this group would be a disaster.

I dont think offense will be a problem with Harden and Westbrook. It's all about getting them to buy in defensively and I think JVG would achieve that.

    Not appalled and not excited.

JVG was a much better analyst.

    Him or Thibs.

Fertitta lacks the vision and cojones to go for a younger name with potential.

Can he bring back the draft picks pls?

Love it. JVG bring in Stan. Just saying, he will adjust to the new style of NBA, but with defense. Please... please.

Jvg would be a fool to leave national television for Houston.

Jvg already took a loss with national team missing out so he might not be looking to gamble on Houston.

God speed nba, Houston, and world wide.

I don't think I wanted to fire JVG.

One can argue that JVG is a smarter, better EQ, version of Thibs. I remember many of the JVG fans wanted to get Thibs so bad after the Adelman era.

I love JVG the guy. He is a much better color analyst than a head coach. I'd rather him staying at the announcer's table. He is one of very few bright lights there.

JVG would be a poor hire.
