I know mothers who make more money (actually lose less) staying home and not collecting welfare rather than working a full-time job.

 

We need to solve this ASAP? Is it the early 1990s again?

 

If that is the case, I will get a fake SS# and receive food stamps. How hard could it be, if the government does not verify the SS# right.

 

So is it the loan originators at Countrywide or the fact that Fannie & Freddie, government run businesses, would buy these sub prime originated loans in the first place that are to blame?

Either way the top 2%'ers in this country's banking system who have bought and paid for our politicians the last several decades among others are the ones that have left us this problem.

 

Actually this kind of think happens a lot. There is a black market for SSNs and the government doesn't do a good job of verifying information. Identity theft isn't that hard if you honestly want to do it.

 

This is what I looove about this country. Everyone on welfare is some 19 year old single mother or 22 year old lazy liberal dude.

No one likes to point the finger but the largest amount of welfare recipients other than children are Seniors. Medicaid, housing, food stamps, this isn't just the bastion of those lazy good for nothing hoodlums who would rather lay around all day and have kids.

Let's make sure and ship off millions of grandmas and grandpas to the military or work camps or building roads. After all they were not personally responsible enough to save for retirement or they smoked and drank and are now in long term care, so let's have them pay back society and dig a ditch.

 

This would be easy. The reason you don't do it is that you aren't living off the grid right now. You have a real identity and you can be found and punished. When illegals are caught, it isn't a big loss since they can just do it all over again, whereas you would be prosecuted and maybe jailed.

 

Given that Countrywide went bankrupt and numerous counterparts also failed or needed assistance, it's quite clear they did not successfully sell off all the loans they were making.

As for the original topic, I'd be curious to see how many people here actually know how the welfare system current operates - rules, requirements, etc. It's quite clear here that a lot of people are just making stuff up.

 

The elderly can get to work licking envelopes, the post office is in need of old farts with wet tongues.

Yes, it's the loan orgiinators who are to blame for originating loans. That is why they are called "loan originators"

 

Loan originators and the rating agencies that were supposed to analyze the associated CDOs.

 

Welfare Assistance should be given to citizens who are disabled or have a chronic condition/ disease that prevents them from working. Should also be some random drug test for recipients, if they fail cut them loose so the next one on the waiting list can obtain assistance.

 

I do agree with the random drug test for anyone who receives government assistance.

Government housing and a job is a nice setup. I know you are joking but that program would be much better (and more expensive) than the current.

 

How about improving our education system and eliminating discriminatory practices in housing?

 

Please explain how you can run a housing business if the folks who want to live there don't have any money.

That being said, once you get the money from the government, or as happens occasionally, from churches or private charity, good management practices do help.

Well you are starting to get it a little bit. . Most right wingers don't think about day care. Of course you are against raising the minimum wage, unions, stopping outsourcing of industrial jobs to China, the earned income tax credit. etc.

Are you for taking the kids away, oprhanages, forced sterilization, pretending you can get lots of child support from the minimum wage dads, prayer, abstinence or other conservative solutions?

Many years ago I worked in food stamps and what was than called AFDc for welfare. It pays crap in Texas. Nobody can actually live on it. It encourages woment to find boyfriedns to help pay bills, which tends to lead to more kids IMHO
