Yeah, why should anyone be personally responsible for the choices they make in life.

    That is just silly.

I agree with you once again, if there's anybody who proved that they have the best interest of the consumers in mind, it's the people who were out there running a business in the housing industry - Angelo Mozillo at Countrywide comes to mind, as do all the other largely unregulated nonbank mortgage originators. They ran A BUSINESS and it worked out swell.

We need to start drafting the poor people into the military, if you want free housing you need to serve in the military...

They can handle the daycare at the same time, we get more "volunteers" and there is no need of a draft.

Hand outs are far too easy.....

    ;)

I'm not sure if the military is capable of handling that many single mothers unless they don't have a problem with sending their kids with them on deployments.....

Single mothers huh? Put them to work with the "peace corp" or "National Guard"......helping out for their housing etc...and letting them earn some money too....

The military gets enough $$$$, have them divert some of the money for black ops stuff for daycare instead.....those kids would be better off raised on a military base than the projects.

I am on to something, I am going to solve this problem of too many irresponsible poor people.

QUESTION: Does anyone know how much the Average Welfare Recipient receives a month?
How much do they get Additional per child?

I would be interested in getting some real numbers before we discuss this further.

Don't forget all the hand outs when calculating, cash, foodstamps, housing etc.

That money has to come from somewhere....

Nothing wrong with helping the poor, but they need to contribute something to society other than more methane gas.

Work camps, I like it....we don't need razor wire, but we do need roads.....I like the way you think, son.

Like spare kidneys, lungs, corneas . . . . [just messing with ya]

    But seriously
I think we need to have some REAL numbers
I'm not talking about that one person your brother's friend's cousin's uncle knows that is making 100K a yr with 5 kids on welfare.
I want to know the general everyday welfare recipient . .not the outliers

I think people underestimate and overestimate the benefit(s) of welfare

No need for that, but people should not just be living for free, off of others hard work, right?

They should have to do something for all the handouts.....I am open to suggestions.....but we need to solve this....ASAP.

My program, should I be elected, would be to pay them $$$$ as well as giving them housing, so they can better themselves and their kids have a better future.

We have got to stop paying for people that don't want to contribute....Canada needs people let's ship them up there.

It's hard to boil down to an exact number because there are so many subsidies in so many different forms. I distinctly remember though that when I was in college, there was a very nice apartment complex that had opened up and was only charging $500 rent. For me though, because I was a student and not part of this "favored" low income group, rent would be $900. So there's a rather large subsidy. I ended up in a place not nearly as nice that was $750. This experience, seeing that the subsidized could live better than the unsubsidized, thoroughly cemented the idea that liberal policies are completely broken. Interestingly, I stopped by that subsidized complex a couple years later and saw that it had totally gone to ****, with trash everywhere and people strewing their possessions on their patios.

The Texas food stamp benefit amount for a family of two is $367 per month. I remember quite distinctly that my wife and I kept our budget in the $250-$300 range while in school and we weren't anywhere close to starving. If merely not starving is the goal, it's probably would have been possible for us to eat bulk food for $75 per month. But apparently keeping people from starving isn't the goal of welfare, the goal is to provide a comfortable middle class standard of living at the expense of others.

The subsidies in the federal tax code are massive, particularly the earned income credit. It all adds up to this situation:

    http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_djgssszsh.../dBO8WC5e4wU/s1600-h/implicit+tax+rates+2.png

If any of the leftists here can articulate why a family earning $20k should enjoy a higher standard of living than a family earning $40k, or roughly the same standard of living as a family earning $50k, I'm all ears. Feel free to also expound on why welfare leeches should enjoy a higher standard of living than the average college student.

I would never use the word leech, but illegal aliens are a huge burden on our resources. That's absolutely true.

Of course, so are unnecessary wars, generous tax laws for the wealthy, a ridiculous and shortsighted policy on drugs, and insane free trade agreements that gut the middle class.

Yep, plenty of reasons why we've run out of money, and illegal immigration is just one of them.

Gainfully employed real American taxpayers who take on the odious task of teaching the poor proper hygiene, etiquette, and work ethic should be provided a poor person as an indentured servant for a period of time.

If they don't work out we could trade them for a better fit or have them sent to one of the work camps for further training and then reassignment or incarceration.

Maybe DaDakota can get to work on writing up a grant proposal since he seems to feel pretty strongly about the subject. JCDenton can draw up the graphs.
