I just heard on sports radio 690 here in southern Cali that Francis's agents are in talks with Portland to include them in a 3 way deal which will have Francis going to Portland and Shareef Abdul Raheem and Damon Stoudamire going to Orlando. The rest stays the same.

This was reported by the sports radio announcer Lee ‘Hacksaw’ Hamilton on XTRA-AM (690).

    Clutch,

I looked through the updated thread but its too looooooooooooooooooong to see if this was posted there or not. Therefore i started this new thread. Lock it if need be.

I'll try to see if i can find a link to this on their website.

Also, this 3 way deal was at the request of Francis's agents and they were granted permission by Orlando to negotiate with Portland. This was also mentioned by Lee "Hacksaw" Hamilton during the news update.

The only way they need Orlando's permission is if there's already a done deal in place.

This is all becoming more complicated than the mergers that I work on (well, not really), but I guess one of these players is easily worth a whole company....

Isn't Portland a rebuilding situation too? Technically they weren't in the playoffs last year either. I wonder what Francis and his team of agents will say about this.

Looking at this trade objectively, I guess it's still a good deal from Orlando's perspective. Although the point guard situation is gonna be an issue in the not-too-distant future when Stoudamire's contract expires.

In regards to the source on this. All he said was that this is just "HOT OF THE WIRE." That's all. Lee Hamilton is pretty well know for his insight and information on sports in general so I'm sure this must be more than a rumor.

If this deal goes through, the Magic are gonna be in the Finals next year.

So Orlando would get Mobley, Cato, SAR and Stoudamire? That's pretty good for them! Add in Okafor and you have a starting lineup!

What's interesting about that however is that dont SAR AND Stoudamire come off the cap after next year? Would Orlando want that?

I would hate to see Francis in the West but I dont care as long as we get McGrady!

    Thanks for the report!

Because they will have an underachieving small forward, a stoned point guard, and a rookie power forward?

Yeah...that has finals written all over it

edit: sorry i misread this initially....they will get to keep Mobley and Cato? damn that is quite a deal
