we are 10 deep. and we have someone for everything you could want done on a basketball court. even with that we still need 3 major role players to step up.

    the first thing we need:

a dead-eye shooter. sure, we have rice. boki is great in practice. steve and cat can knock it down. but we really need someone who just cannot be left open!

perfect fit - Pat Garity (#5 in the league in 3's made)
    also good - Bruce Bowen

    the second thing we need:

a true, defencive minded, point guard. someone who can be a stopper and run the offence w/o racking up to's while looking to score.

perfect fit - Aaron Mckie (among league leaders in asts per to & stls per to)
    also good - Jamal Crawford

and finally the last thing that we need:

a physical rebounder. someone who will be our intimidator. a guy who will come to every game ready to fight.................for rebounds ;)

    perfect fit - Brian Grant
    also good - Kurt Thomas

please do not take this as a giant TRADE EVERYONE thread. the players listed above are just to give you an idea of what im talking about.

here are the rockets that i think should step up and fill these roles:
    shoter: rice or boki
    floor general: moochie
rebounder: moT (cato is almost there but he will never play alongside yao)

    Well...YES

I agree. We need a shooter! Pat Garrity is a great shooter although he is not rated very well. Bruce Bowen...OK. But he looks fairly old to me. Pat Garrity could do all right at small forward.

A rebounder. A Kurt Thomas or a Brian Grant would be wonderful. They could be great enforcers along with Yao. BUT we will NEVER get them. :(

Aaron Mckie is a good role player. But Jamal Crawford? NO.

Yes, Rudy can afford to do that now with Collier back to play backup center and Mo T can come in to play backup PF . Just keep inmind one thing, if there comes a time when you see Yao, Cato, AND Mo T on the floor, please shoot me!!

Garrity at the 4 would be a perfect fit. Imagine Garrity shooting the shots that Griff likes to take.

How many times can 1 person be so wrong.

    1. Bruce Bowen is an absolute horrible shooter.
    2. Moochie Norris couldnt lead a platoon of plastic green army men
    3. Mo T's biggest weakness is his rebounding.

I prefer live-eyed shooters to dead-eyed, but that's just me.

When the Rockets pass to the open man, that shooter is deadly. Look at the T-Wolf game or the first half of the Dallas game. The team shooting percentages are nothing less than superior. When the Rockets don't pass and choose to run into the teeth of the defense, team shooting percentages are dismal.

Therefore, no new "shooters" are needed -- just better passing.

    1. right now, bowen is #2 in the league in 3pt%

2&3. a lot of people may have missunderstood me.

i do not think that moochie or moT are the leader and rebounder we need. in fact, its because of them that we need those things. what i meant was that they need to step as a floor general, and rebounder.

And because of that, he is the definition of "fluke". Over his career, he has been atrocious as a shooter.

Also, at this point in their careers, Kurt Thomas is much better than Brian Grant. They have very similar styles, but Thomas is a little more consistent than the oft-injured Grant.

WHAT WE NEED IS TO CONTINUE PLAYING HOW WE HAVE PLAYED THE LAST TWO GAMES!!!

And I also need a nice smoothie... it's getting hotter in Houston Texas again.

Bruce Bowen's career 3 point shooting percentage is 37%. He is not the dead-eye shooter we are looking for. However, Wes Person might be.
