With the return of Demeco, Barwin, Finally healthy Mario, and a full year for Cushing I have 3 steps that I think could really make us a good defense next year with Wade Phillips. Step 1 would be to sign Pat Williams in free agency. Step 2 would be to sign Champ Bailey or Jonathan Joseph in free agency. 3rd would deal with just our first round pick, and that would be to draft Von Miller after we trade down to 10-15. That gives us the nose tackle we have to have, a CB that can cover and with Bailey a veteran leadership we need in the secondary, and The OLB that can rush the passer along the lines of a Merrimen in his prime. If we give Phillips any kinda say in the personnel department these steps aren't completely out of the realm of possibility! Thoughts and what would be your 3 step program?

I still have not gotten a definative answer on Kareem Jackson

If he cannot COVER 1 on 1
Why can he not be a big hitter at Free Safety?
    Zone coverages?

I agree, try him at FS. He can't play CB in the NFL.

I don't see Champ Bailey coming to the Texans because I've heard he want to go to a winning situation, but here are some other DB's that will be available this offseason.

I like the idea of bringing in Joseph and drafting Von Miller as well if we can't get Patrick Peterson or Prince Amukamara.

Regarding Jackson, I've heard that it is premature to write him off - that almost any rookie thrown in the mix would be burned nonstop. The problem lies with the staff for throwing him to the wolves and giving him the starter's job when he should have been learning in practice while competing for a nickle or dime job. For instance, the other guy people wanted them to take, Kyle Wilson, was torched as badly as Jackson in NY, but because he wasn't a starter, when he did play it was not as painfully obvious.

    You probably right.
This is the history of this franchise
Rather and picking up some hack in the supplemental draft and letting Carr
work his way in . . they threw him to the wolves

Mario, Cush, Demeco - were pretty much put in from the start
Not a issue since they managed to survivie. . but that does not mean
    everyone will

This team has an issue with player developement.

Sometimes you can just tell if a guy is going to make it or not. I could see if Jackson was getting burned, but still would make a play that would be impressive here or there to show potential. He's shown me nothing.

Get Cushing back on steroids. He looks just bad, lost and friggin' slow. If we get Miller, that would be HUGE!

    1. Fire everyone in the coaching staff and the front office that was responsible for this atrocity of a defense.

    2. Find a way to nail Von Miller, trade offensive assets for defensive assets, balance out the team.

    3. Find random guys on the street to fill out the secondary.

What offensive assets do we even have besides Foster, Johnson, and maybe Leach/Daniels? I see nothing. Slaton is crap and is gone, Jacoby, lol. Who would want Walters and his low production with that contract?

Y'all are overrating Von Miller. He was excellent in college. Okay. So was Selvie. He doesn't have NFL sex appeal. We need a nasty NT, which IMO is harder to find than a franchise QB. So... yeah.

I like the 4-3 more in the NFL.

Plus, I don't want to waste another draft on completely retooling the D-Line, the Texans just need a pass rushing DT (which should be in free agency) and use the draft on secondary, a WR and a OLB/MLB for depth.
