http://www.nba.com/allstar2005/three_point/shootout_050207.html Lenard Allen Radmonovic Johnson Richardson Korver Why do Sea and Pho have 2 contestants each?
umm, isnt Lenard out for the season? would be interesting if he reinjured his ankle? during the competition. i still remember the Allstar year where Craig Hodges was in the shootout and he wasnt even on an NBA team. His 18? consecutive shots was a thing of beauty.
Only 3 out of the 6 actually have nice strokes. Leanord, Allen and Korver. The rest of the bunch just jack up a lot more threes so they are on the list. I am surprised Leanard is on there considering he has an injury that is going to sideline him for the rest of the season. Wonder if they are putting in an alternative for him. I say Korver will come away with the win, even though Allen is the top pick by most people.
Lenard is in because he's a Nugget, and they need SOMEBODY to actually represent them that weekend... we all know that they won't have any all-stars in the actual game.
exactly I know he has back spasms and all but he needs to be on there unless Peja himself declined an invite to the 3 point shootout. The rest of the lineup looks pretty good hopefully since lenard more than likely wont play they will replace him with Redd
I think they should have two 3 point contests. One for the league leaders and one for all the bench warmers who can just flat out shoot. Then the two winners can square off like in the Apprentice. And sadly, I'd be interested to see that battle.
Do you actually believe that Lenard has a good stroke? Over Radmanovic? PS. the nba 3-point leaders as of today are as follows..... 1. F. Hoiberg MIN .500 2. J. Terry DAL .468 3. J. Johnson PHO .454 4. C. Mobley SAC .449 5. E. Piatkowski CHI .449 6. M. Miller MEM .448 7. S. Smith CHA .444 8. S. Battier MEM .438 9. B. Gordon CHI .436 10. L. Murray TOR .435 It would have been nice ice The mayor, Pike, Gordon and Mobes were included and a reward for their accuracy this season. Oh well.
Lenard-pretty much the only thing he does during his free time, which is ALWAYS. Allen- The safety pick Radmonovic- Dark horse Johnson- safety darkhorse. Richardson- too streaky Korver- the white boyz' pick, but has good chance, no longer a dark horse. the league still hasn't returned my calls on the suggestion of having a mascot free-for-all fight on the court. Nor the idea of having cheerleaders mudwrestle, but i'll keep trying on that one.
I do not enjoy watching great spot up shooters having to go through the difficulties of shooting x amount of shots in y minutes. If the league might be willing to give LBJ $1 mil for the dunk contest, why not invest a little time and money into the 3 pt contest? My suggestion: have league officials go to different teams' practices, and have a mini tournament for all the people that are interested. One day, go to the Sonics practice and have Allen, Rad, and Rashard "try-out." Next time go to the Mavs practice, then to the Suns. While I wouldn't want to see Brian Cook go against Brian Scalabrine in the finals, I would want to see prepared, great shooters that can excel in the shootout. Does it matter who wins? No. I just want to see great performances that lead to dramatic finished.
What about current vs. former players? I am sure Tim Legler and Kenny Smith can still fill it up. Have the champ of the old timers go against the current-player champ.
You need legs to nail those 25-footers, and Legler and Smith don't have any. Kenny beat Ainge in a "competition" a few years back, but it would be just sad.
Actually, it's because he's the defending champion. He asked the league if he could defend his championship and after watching him do a simulated run of it, they decided he could. If we were gonna follow your logic, Bryon Russell would be in the game as at one point this season he was leading the league in 3 pt. percentage.
Looks like Leonard is going to go for it even though he hasn't healed from his torn achilles yet. Wonder how denver feels about it. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/allstar2005/news/story?id=1987218 DENVER -- Denver Nuggets shooting guard Voshon Lenard will defend his 3-point shootout title at this year's NBA All-Star Weekend despite an Achilles tendon injury that hasn't fully healed and has kept him on the bench all season. Lenard was injured in the season opener against the Lakers. Although his recovery has been ahead of schedule, he's still expected to miss the remainder of the season. "I'd rather play in games than do this," Lenard said. "But this is the only thing I'm capable of doing right now, so I want to take advantage of that." While he still moves slowly, Lenard hasn't seemed to lose his shooting touch. Moving gingerly in practice the past few days, Lenard has been right on target in preparation for the 3-point contest. He has eclipsed 20 points several times, with a high of 23, and swished several jumpers from near halfcourt. A career 38 percent 3-point shooter, Lenard scored 18 points in last year's final to end Peja Stojakovic's three-year run. Lenard will face Seattle's Ray Allen and Vladimir Radmanovic, Phoenix's Joe Johnson and Quentin Richardson, and Kyle Korver of Philadelphia in the 3-point shootout on Feb. 19 in Denver.
