I was talking to my friends about the situation the Houston Rockets are at, and one of my friends gave a good idea what we should do this summer. First Offer Wesley for Brian Cardinal and Memphis 1st Round pick (19) Second Offer Trade our expiring contracts for a team who needs to drop some contracts and a top 15 pick. Since this draft is pretty deep and all the players have there games spelled out Role Players we can get 3 draftee to solve our SG, PG, and PF problems. After picking players we can see how each draftee is doing and according to that we should sign a FA to our needs. Lets say we sign Ike Diogo and he turns out to be a monster player and we land Antoine wright and he is good, now we can go and spend our MLE on a good PG FA. What do you guys think? i know its a risk (what if all 3 drafts suck) that we will be wasting our expiring contracts but its a good way to get young and get yourself a good rotation at every spot and become young.
Teams generally won't just give up 1st round draft picks for expiring contracts. Plus, we'd need to take back salary in return. Maybe you can be more specific? As in, who are we trading with, whose expiring contracts are we trading, who are we getting back in return, who are we drafting?
ok let me work up some deals that we can do with the teams that have been rumored to trade their picks. Also my theory goes with the prediction that someone made about that we will have 2 trades on draft day.
We should get 3 #1s for taking on that contract. Memphis should eat another 3-4 years before that are allowed to trade that horrible contract.
Tell you what. Let's trade our expirings to Portland for their bad contracts, Darius Miles, and Theo Ratliffe. Now, since we took all their garbage off their hands, they have to do us a favor and give us the #3. Fair enough? Now, let's do another deal with Memphis for Bonzi and their pick in exchange for some more of our junk. Then we can draft Paul with the third, Diogu with the Memphis #1, and Turiaf with our #24. we already used our "junk" to get miles and ratliff. spoon and wesley = ratliff's contract. sura and baker = miles' contract. all we have left is ward and moochie. they = about half of bonzi's contract. talent wise - wesley for ratliff is even except we won't need ratliff because deke will be resigned. sura for miles is verry much in our favor. there is no way we get the #3 on top of that.
