Aaaahh, 2 weeks off. I have two Rockets games planned, a trip to MMP, a pickup game, picnic, barbecue, a friend's wedding... ...oh, and that Aussie dude is coming to stay for awhile. Man, I'm gonna have to come back to work to get some rest. Anybody else have vacation plans?
Well, I got New Orleans this weekend. Major and I are making a casino/Astro road trip in May that'll take us to Memphis, St. Louis and Chicago. I'm going with my sisters and brother in-law to Vegas the first of August. Woohoo.

Vegas May 8 - 11 Hard Rock Hotel For some reason I am *always* put in charge of organizing my friends' bachelor parties. My friends' wives/girlfriends all fear me.
Planning to go on an 8-month vacation. Three months in Barcelona learning Spanish, the rest of the time traveling around the world. Well, I will also be attending some MBA classes and finally finishing my Ph.D. thesis during that time, but my focus is on seeing as much of the world as possible before I seriously get back to work...
Please bring the edit function back...little mistake about my planned route on the link...here is the correct route...
So will we have to call you Dr. Sir Jackie Chiles? Seriously congrats. I sure as hell know I couldnt stay in college long enough to get a PhD. Let me know how Barcelona is. My wife wants to go to Germany and Austria when we go to Europe in the next few years. Im fighting to go to Italy and Spain.
Thanks! Well, I am not done yet, some more work to do before that . If your wife reads this...please listen to your husband. Germany and Austria are great countries with lots of things to see, but from a tourist standpoint, Italy and Spain are much better. Cities like Rome and Barcelona, islands like Menorca and Capri...and much more sun. However, there are some relatively inexpensive opportunities to see all four countries (and more), depending on how flexible you are. There are railpasses for a few hundred bucks which allow virtually unlimited travel in Europe for a month or so, but these are mostly used by younger people (backpackers). There are also some "Visit Europe" airpasses which offer good deals for seeing many different places in Europe. If you get good hotel bargains to go with that, you can collect a lot of impressions from "old Europe" without going bankrupt doing it. If you need a list of top 10 things to see in Europe...I can give it some thought. (By the way, this reminds me...one of my personal goals is still to be able to see the 50 places before you die)... .
