Our pitchers deserve better, we need to get some people on base, either move Taveres to the top of the lineup or put Biggio back leading off.

This team needs some hitting deserpately....hurry back Lance B....

Our offense sucks. I feel bad for Clemens who had to sign back w/ us. Mulder pitched a hell of a game today.

    10 IP, no runs...WOW.

Unfortunately, I've been right about them so far when I said they'd suck here. http://bbs2.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?threadid=92040 Roger is doing great, and I didn't say he'd fall off, but I was sure the offense would be quite bad, and it's hasn't proved me wrong yet. It's too bad, they could be so much better.

How about we swap the anaemic Stros line-up for the Ranger's batting line-up?

Keep in mind that the opposing pitcher pitched a hell of a game also. It's a long season.

Yeah, nevermind that we scored 7, 8, 6, and 5 in our last four games.

It's just been bad luck that we've gone against two very above-average pitchers in Clemens' last two starts. It's not like Hudson and Mulder are scrubs.

I'm not saying this team is an offensive juggernaut or anything, but they've shown signs that they can score some runs.

One guy on baseball tonight on friday night actually said the Cardinals lead wasn't safe with Houston's dynamic offense. That guy was way behind the 8-ball. Our offense will hopefully be fine when Berkman comes back.

Good point. After today's game, the Astros have scored 70 runs on the season. Guess how many the Cardinals have scored? 75.

Plus, the winning run reached base on a squib-hit, swinging bunt. Losing (and winning) games like this often comes down to some luck and the Astros have been getting all the bad luck lately.

Clemens has had some bad luck as well just because of the pitching matchups that have been falling on his turn in the rotation. Both of the last 1-0 extra-inning losses have come at the hands of two guys that have been perennial Cy Young candidates in the AL.

There you go again, interrupting a good whining session with facts. Look, the same whiners predicted the worst *last* April when the Astros struggled, and you see how that turned out. So, if you think the Astros suck and the sky is falling, you should trust your instincts regardless of what the facts are. Capiche?

That's what i've been partially thinking ever since we didn't sign Beltran. The Rangers need pitching and we need hitting, no matter what the stats say. You can't count on a crop of rookies to play ball like Lane and Tavarez have been for 162+games. You could say we have a slight surplus of pitching and they have a big surplus of hitting. We could trade them Backe, Astacio, or Bucholtz in return for Blalock, Young, Teixera, or even Mench. Depending on the deal, we might have to give up something extra. However, none of the above players have become free agents yet (to my knowledege) so there wouldn't be much salary cap difference. Or we could try to pry away Soriano away but we'd have to get salaries too match.

A trade would benifit both teams and we're not rivals in the same league so why not look into a trade. With 1 better pitcher last year, the Rangers would have made the post season. And with one more bat this year, we might be able to make the post season. We've got to a shot for the wild card this year with another bat, so why wait till June for a trade when we might be out of it by then?

Tell me about it. He's given up only 1 run and the regular lineup has only given him 1 run. He'd be winless if he didn't knock in 2 RBIs in his first game. I just want punch a hole in a wall. I can't imagine what Roger wants to do.

    You want facts?

    Here's 2 for you

Cardinals are 11-5.....we are 8-9. I would say thats a slightly beter indicator of how they (and we) have played than runs scored.

The whine was about the "anemic offense", not about who has won or lost more games. The offense is not anemic, just horribly streaky--the same as it was the first half of last season. I would agree that the Astros' level of play so far is not what it should be, but that wasn't the whine on this particular thread.

    Context--look it up.

    Ok, here's some fun facts:

    1. We've lost 7 games by 1 run

    2. We've been shutout 3 times

    3. We would be 15-0 w/o those 1 run loss games

    4. Our team ERA is 3.32!!!

I completely agree. It's different personel but the results for the most part remain the same. I know we haven't forgot about those 9-0 blowouts followed by a week or two of mediocrity.
