#1: He brought FEMA to Houston: (90% of trailers were destroyed beyond usability. (I I give him just a lil strike for that one.)) #2: He stopped smoking in private establishments. Pardon me, but I thought you could do what you wanted when it was your own? I love the Mayor of Bellaire telling him to go to hell. #3: Reestablishing the abolishishment of strip clubs. No offense, most know my ex was a stripper, but I haven't frequented the places in years. But, once again, this is White loving his accolades over Katrina and trying to follow in Giuliani's footsteps. There are two major problems with this: We vote a LIBERAL in to change things, but not what we like. WE vote a REPUBLICAN in to keep status quo. Sad part was, I voted Democrat locally for the past eight years. This "White" "liberal/christian heathen" has told me ottherwise. Our tourism will be screwed for decades. (In fact, our tourism was screwed when the superbowl came to town. Nice girls turned into whores after other cities women came in who wanted to do anything.) The saddest part for you younguns is: It used to be a lot of fun. Go**amnit! This is bullsh!t I used to be for Democratic on the local and State side... Bill "I'm going to prove a bald-headed point" White has proven otherwise. Going back to "If it ain't broke, don't fix it, and if it is, call me..."
1) i've gotta admit, it's nice going someplace be it in dallas, or houston, or anywhere in california and not have to smell like smoke when i leave the place. but i hate the fact that government thinks it needs to intervene and tell places how to run their businesses. if you don't want the smoke smell, don't go. don't try and impose your authority on private matters. 2) houston was known for having excellent clubs, where "extras" were easy to come by. i haven't followed the story closely, but it seems like this is more government intervention. if they would legalize prostitution we wouldn't have this problem.
Says the virgin... I'm tired of hearing dumbasses who portend to know anything. Please Casey: Name any experience. Or siimply STFDU I'm told every week to go. I gave it up once the Superbowl came to town. The girls learned how to be whores after that, and that was never my goal. (my goal is in a vault, so, let's just say I'm a virgin, also) Regardless of whether I know anything, women became "different" after the bowl... And not in a good way. So I stopped going... That said, if I were mayor, I'd make damn sure I gave leniency to the clubs around, and vice-versa. If anything good comes outta this, it'd be for the whores who taught our good girls to be whores, and knock them off the charts. I hear most came from Atlanta. Mayor White: I present you with your new challenge, because you most certainly won't be re-elected here. kudos. (And by the way, try getting re-elected. You've sincerely ostracised on both fronts!) And I thought going democrat on the local level was a good idea. Way to go, you! I'll be sure to tell my friends. BTW, you son-of-a-b****, I actually did vote for you. When, and I say this as a Christian, did you, as a "democrat" become such a bible beating, intolerable republican.? Criminey! I'm a staunch repub, and even "I" know when enough is enough. I truly want you gone. You've done nothing but bring more crime, more taxes, more intolerance to this city. Truly, mayor "White" What have you done?
It's sad, but of many people I know who have visited houston from other cities with more to offer (and generally for work and not of their own accord), most have said the strip clubs are pretty much the only thing they found impressive at all. I mean honestly, if you are coming from NY or Chicago or SF or LA or wherever, what else are you going to be impressed with? tall buildings? Freeways? Cowboy hats? I'm sorry Houston - you're an ok place to grow up but a terrible place to visit.
The reason to visit Houston = Tex Mex + t*tties. Mayor White has robbed the city of some of its most valuable Treasures.
Jorge I think you should really consider moving. I can get you a job as a runner at NYSE. I think there's a smock that will fit you too. Hope you like smoking Parliament lights out on Broadway as lunch.
I don't really want Houston to be known for strip cubs. Can't we do better than that? It would be interesting to see Houstonians polled on this. I bet a majority support it.
Yes, Fatty, the bbs really wanted to see two threads of your late night (slightly incoherent) b****ing over the same subject.
Honestly what else is it going to be known for? Tall buildings? Traffic? I have not met a single person who has visited Houston from a city of comparable size and said they enjoyed it as a city.
It probably is always going to suck in terms of tourism. Oh well. But it's a great place to live because of the cheap cost of living and plentiful jobs.
Yes, I think the thing about Houston, is that its a great place to live, but I wouldn't want to visit there.
