So Patterson got 8 minutes of playtime in today's game. On top of that, it wasn't even cleanup playtime, but actual difference-making playing time. What are your thoughts on his play? He seemed defensively sound. He grabbed a couple of rebounds but he was certainly making a good effort to go after every rebound possible. I also think he did a pretty decent job playing d and protecting the paint. Also, his one jumpshot looked very fluid in his shooting motion.
He deserves more playing time, but we have so many damn players right now that it's hard for him to get that playing time.
From his showings... He will definately be a good role player but he doesnt have that star look to me. Moves his feet well, and looks like a good all round player. Dont think the Rockets need him though if we keep Hill and Scola.
His highlight was getting a blocked shot on one end, and then hitting a baseline jumper on the other end. Beyond that, he was alright but nothing stood out. He did miss box out on one possession and gave up I think a dunk or foul on the putback.
Haha just realized the redundancy in my OP. Caught myself before the grammar police got to me.
Lookz like we're just trying to raise his stock, i dont see us keeping Scola, Hill, and Pat through the deadline, as we all know, a big move could be on the horizon, and i think one of our young PFs will be in the mix of players to go.
My thoughts are its a great luxury to be able to develop players properly through practice and not have to force them into the fire like other teams.
J. Taylor got no PT--> JT got PT --> JT traded. Pattterson got not PT --> Patterson got PT --> _________________.
All Patrick needs to do is settle down and slow down. He looks so anxious out there. Expected from a rookie who hasn't played all year. The NBA game simply moves at a different speed compared to what he is used to, so he still needs some time catching up. I see him having a solid all around game, providing consistent and smart play. I think the Rockets may be grooming him to eventually take over for Scola. He may not have some of the spectacular sequences that Hill can provide, but he probably won't give you the stinkers like tonight's game either. Consistency is the only thing that will earn a coach's trust, not the spectacular. And while Jordan Hill has progressed nicely, that is still the biggest area he needs to improve on.
Didn't like that he was letting Ike Diagu get so many Rebounds. He moved his feet really well, played some good PnR defense.
He really gave rookie Landry effort level, I was thinking that to me he comes off as a smater player than Jordan but Hill hs the edge in length, I'd say Hill has a bigger ceiling but I think Pat Pat has a bigger change of attaining his.
He set some SOLID screens tonight. He is going to be our best screener in the future. Jordan Hill seems to pick up an offensive foul on every screen he sets.
I am quite impressed by a play where 2Pat (I like this nickname) and Lee both blocked the driving lane of Baron Davis and prevented a pick and roll from happening. The kid is smart at the defensive end.
