If the Rockets beat the Mavs in the first round and the Clippers beat the Spurs, who gets homecourt advantage in the second round. Since Clips have the same record as us and the tiebreaker would they get it over us even though we are the higher seed?

    There is no re-seeding.

Rockets would have home court over every team in the league except GSW and ATL.

I understand your sarcasm, but I ask the question because Portland has the 4th seed and is on the road without the homecourt advantage and they won their division. Wouldn't the same hold true for us in the second round because the Clippers have the better record (technically) due to tiebreakers?

This has been said many times before, and you can easily google this. I guess someone will start this thread about 3 or 4 more times over the course of the next few weeks. sigh

We are #2 because we beat the LAC on the first tie-breaker. Division winners get first tie-breaker. We beat everyone except GSW.

    No need for a thread.

Rockets will have HCA over every team in the West except GSW and every team in the East except ATL.

    Per http://stats.nba.com/playoffpicture

"For purposes of home court advantage, ties will be broken pursuant to the procedures used for breaking two-team ties for playoff position."

    a. Two Teams Tied
    (1) Division leader wins tie from team not leading a division.
    (2) Better winning percentage in games against each other.
    (3) Better winning percentage against teams in own division (only if tied teams are in same division).
    (4) Better winning percentage against teams in own conference.
    (5) Better winning percentage against teams eligible for playoffs in own conference (including teams that finished the regular season tied for a playoff position).
    (6) Better winning percentage against teams eligible for playoffs in opposite conference (including teams that finished the regular season tied for a playoff position).
    (7) Better net result of total points scored less total points allowed against all opponents (“point differential”).

    That is just awesome.

The players finished the season on a tremendous high. Let's hope it carryover to the playoffs.

Just to explain or add a bit more, last year the flip happened because of houston winning the regular series 3-1, and also because OKC is still in Portland's division ( meaning they couldn't win it since OKC had) here's source showing OKC winning division that year (they're still in it from Seattle days) http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northwest_Division_(NBA)#Division_champions

So as already stated this year if Clippers and Rockets meet up in round 2, the rockets will own HC because they won their division, while LAC won nothing (GSW has theirs).

    Hope that helps :)
