Would be interesting to see who everyone thinks is second best. Takign a look at JJ's numbers, he's tremendous. 40% 3pt shooting and pulling down 6+ rebounds a game definitely makes him a competitior for that second best. Yao has been in a slump recently, while Francis has been hampered by the system.

Now's a godo time to see where you guys this team stands in terms of the best player's sidekcik, whoever that best player may be.

JJ is a consistent player for us this year. I think he's the 2nd best player on the Rockets. As for the best player, it's obvious Yao is the best player this year. He'll get out of this slump soon unless there's something wrong with him that we don't know about.

I think Steve Francis is the second best player on the Rockets, but his piece doesn't fit the puzzle.

Its funny to see that Yao got a decent amount of votes as the second best player since this board is dominated by Yao only fans.

You are assuming that those voting Yao as 2nd best consider Francis #1. There may be a lot of people who consider JJ and Yao both superior to Francis' level of production.

Mobley really should get some more consideration.

Personally, I think him and JJ have been as important as Francis.

Francis hasn't done ANYTHING this year that we couldn't expect from a Jeff McInnis or Alvin Williams.

IMO, Francis, JJ, and Mobley should be considered equal in terms of importance to this team and who's been the best this year.

That's sad considering Mobley's a role player, JJ is signed for peas towards the end of his career, while Francis is making 10M a year and is supposedly a franchise player.

I wouldn't say the board is dominated by YOF. There are a few YOF that are quite loud and repetitive, and a few Yao bashers that are just as loud and repetitive. Then there's a bunch of YOF that don't post as much. And probably a few "frustrated with Yao fans" that aren't nearly as feverant as the Yao bashers. And most of the rest are regular rocket fans that fall into the "steve fans", "fed up with steve fans", or "not fed up with steve fans" categories.

Also there are probably a ton of lurkers that will vote in polls that don't post much at all.

And there you go. IMO I don't think there are that many YOF. I think it gets skewed because some YOF post a lot. And I've noticed that quite a few YOF that don't post a lot, or "Frustrated with Yao" fans will often start new threads. And those threads tend to be lightning rods for Pro/Con Yao arguments. So it seems like there are more YOF and Yao bashers than there really are.

Don't get me wrong. I voted for Francis as the second best basketball player on the Rockets. Now if you rephrase the question as "Who is the second most important player on the Rockets?", Francis would not have gotten my vote. That goes to Cat or JJ and I'd probably go with JJ this year.

Sane, "best" is hard to define.

Francis is better at spectacular dunks, cross-overs, rebounding and over-all athletic ability.

But JJ, Cat are better over-all basketball players. They are more complete players than Francis.

What's currious is that I think that Francis is only a *little bit* better (over-all) than Mobley.

The sad part is, if Francis took care of his fundamental game, he'd leave the other players in the dust. But he hasn't; he's regressed.

It's really sad to hear that Francis is only a little better than Mobley.

Based on what stats, ridiculous. Jim Jackson is largely regarded as a player who didn't live up to his potential folks. I'm glad he's doing a good job for the Rockets but you some of you guys have no perspective.

JJ is good because of Yao and Steve (and Cat) - he may not seem like the "4th option" on this squad, but denfeses treat him that way (they have to) and he has made the most of it by hitting his open shots and getting hustle boards

Hitting 40% of your 3-pt attempts is tremendous, regardless of the type of shots you get.

    pgabriel,

He did live up to his potential, it's injuries that set him back.
