http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs2006/columns/story?columnist=shouler_ken&id=2452524 I remember listening to this on the radio as I drove to Dallas. I parked for the last hour of the game.
they never play any games at all on classic. all they show is ESPN crap. i don't know if they have to pay royalties to the networks, or the leagues to show them.
I happen to tune into sportscenter right after the pistons/cavs game ended and the announcer says how the pistons were the only team in the past 23 years to ever win a game 7 on the road (last year in miami) and I was so upset of course because how they could forget the kiss? the total disrespect of the 95 team is ridiculous
they have this game on nba tv. they show that and game 1 vs the magic. get a tivo, they always play rockets games at odd hours. still no respect.
was that the best olajuwon pic they could get? and if youre going to talk about 1995, at least get one with the right uniforms
They really said that? Hell, the Pistons weren't even the only team to win a Game 7 on the road LAST SEASON! Indiana did it in Boston in the first round. And speaking of the Pacers, they also won a Game 7 on the road the day after Rockets did it in Phoenix(their victory was over the Bricks). Sportscenter really needs to get new fact checkers. Either that or admit they hate the Rockets.
I was at that game. Needless to say, I was and still am very happy that I somehow managed to get a ticket.
I remembering following this series resigned to the Rox getting beat after being down 3-1. I was thinking at the time, "God, make the series respectable for the Rockets. Maybe let them win 1 more game to make 4-2." Then the Rockets won G5 in OT, then blew out the Suns in G6 (not sure if it was the other way around)...I was thinking, "God, this is more than I expected. I'll leave it with you." Then what do you know...Mario Elie KO's the Suns with the most audacious three in the most pressure packed moment in Rockets memory since Game 6 of the 94 Finals! I was jumping up and down in the lounge room as if we've won the championship.
lets not forget the game didnt end with mario's 3. rudy decided to FOUL the suns and make it a 3 point shooting contest. learn from that mike dunleavy!
Right. There were 9 points scored in the last 7 seconds of that game. Wow. And a desparation heave that missed but could have made it 12 points in the last 7 seconds.
You have it right. OT in Game 5. I remember sitting on the floor 3 feet in front of my Living Room TV, watching that late game, with the rest of my family in bed. When Hakeem hit the tying basket in the lane with 8 seconds left I was pumped. Then the Rockets were almost eliminated as the Suns game winner in regulation rimmed out. So close to being eliminated. I just remember the feeling from Dream's on court postgame interview, after Game 5, thinking ... the Suns have no shot in Game 6. It will all come down to Game 7.
That was the only play of the Rockets '95 playoff run that I couldn't watch. I was so f!@#ing nervous that I put on my headphones and went outside to listen to Gene and Jim on the radio. All I remember is Gene yelling "YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!" and my cousin's girlfriend screaming. I think Drexler is the one who scored the last points for the Rockets, 2 free throws I'm pretty sure. And Danny Ainge went to the line and tried to miss the last FT on purpose to try and get the ball back, but it went in anyways.
Wasn't Kevin Johnson like 20 for 20 from the FT line, then he missed one in the last minute that would have iced the game for the suns? That's when I knew it was destiny. I was the best man in a wedding that day. We were listening to the game on the radio on the way to the reception. When we got there, we promptly went in, grabbed a few bottles of champagne, and went right back out to the parking garage to listen to the end. Keep in mind, the groom was with us. When Elie hit that shot, we started yelling so loud that it echoed through the whole parking garage. It was so loud!
I remember at the beginning of the game drexler dunked on a.c. green and barkley laughed at him. what a great teamate.
