I was a huge 2k8 addict, put in 100's hours into....my favorite basketball game by far,but after saying my good byes to $8 of store credit and welcoming a new season this game destroyed everything 2k8 was fun for. no more r2 alley-oops, no more pick and roll dunks, the passing is really fragmented, when I have guys on a fast break they just stop running when they catch the ball allowing the defense to catch up, I get blocked way too easily and they made it too easy to score with superstars, for example, when artest has a hand in kobe's face and he still knocks down the j... something is wrong, the balance between great d and looking for cuts/open shots has been screwed up by the sluggish passing, difficult dunking and the ease of hitting shots with superstars, basketball is a team sport after all, and when I play friends we just keep trading baskets while we abuse our superstars, knowing that even with great d tmac/yao and kobe/gasol are never going to miss making the other teammates useless because of the risk
I think it is best sports game ever made........... IGN gave it an 8.5 Live got a 6.5 Right? And by the way, The alley oops are ingenious, and so are the pick and rolls.... Last year you could literally pick and roll dunk every time, no more dick cheesing. Same goes for alley oops, because those were just a joke last year as well......Fragmented passing? I really have not had this happen to me one time yet....... Not to be mean, but it sounds like you are just not very good.......
No, Kobe does that all the time... Ask Ron.... And btw, 2K8 was a step back compared to 2K7 imo......And this game is more like 2K7, there is just more control.............
2K7 was horrible... way too easy to steal and make shots ... i always played with the suns and nash never misses a shot from 3 ... not a real simulation in my opinion
I actually like it, but I agree it's too easy to score with stars maybe it'll get harder once you up the difficulty, especially with the Rockets... I bring Artest off the bench and it's awesome. Also, Scola plays realistic...it sometimes pisses me off that he'll lean in for a leaner rather than a layup I agree that it pisses me off that players slow down when you try to fast break and my only other gripe is the lack of pregame, halftime and post game...the quarter highlights are awesome though Start 5 Alston McGrady Battier Scola Yao First lineup change Barry McGrady Artest Scola Landry Second quarter change Francis McGrady Artest Hayes Landry Third change Alston Francis Battier Hayes Yao Fourth change Barry McGrady Battier Artest Scola
Maybe they wanted to make it more like Live. Which I enjoy more anyway. I actually liked the 2k9 demo more than the Live one this time around.
...what is all this garbage about 2K7 being better than 2K8? Keep in mind that I always played on HOF... I once had a 1st quarter against the Blazers where it was 52 to 0. 52 TO ZERO! That should never, ever happen. You could literally get 30+ steals per game, and you could drive completely at will. Plus the post game just flat-out wasn't as good as 2K8.
i honestly dont understand how so many people enjoy and these games so much and take it so seriously. Dont get me wrong, Im not having a go at you guys, im just wondering what it is about basketball games that make you play full seasons and games. I'll be the first to admit that i do enjoy playing a 15 minute game every now and then, but i cant sit down and play seasons after seasons in dynasty mode and all that. I really enjoy playing against a mate, that is fun, but ye i just dont understand how people enjoy playing it over and over again. Ive heard some guys play dynasty mode, 48 minutes games, and finish the dynasty. What is it about the game that gets you so attatched?
I play 7 min quarters and usually 58 or 29 game seasons...usually for 2-3 seasons then maybe start over I have no idea how you can play 82 season/15min quarters and finish the dynasty
I skipped 2k8, and I liked 2k7 on PS2. I found it much harder to play defense on 2k9 IMO. Maybe I'm just not very good at perimeter defense, but the computer was burning me all day outside the arc. I was just playing on pro and all-star difficulties, and the cpu did a really good job of picking my defense apart. Hopefully it gets better with practice. Also, it is way too easy to score with Yao Ming at the post.
Yeah, realized if you leave someone open, almost anyone they'll hit the three...I think they over compensated for last season when they realized that the shots NBA players should make, they didn't in 2K8. I also found it extremely easy for Yao to score...also Artest and TMac...All three are shooting more than 70% for me (Yao's at 80 something for me) I do like that they double Yao right off the bat after a good previous game
I was having the same problem last night. I can't do much with perimeter defense, I was getting torched by the Grizzlies in the first game of the season I played yesterday, ended up losing. I think the Grizzlies hit 6 straight 3 pointers on me. Only way I could get back in the game was feed the ball inside to Yao.
I'm playing a 58 game season and played the Grizz a few games in and almost lost...Mike Conley killed me, outside and driving...finally moved TMac to 1, Artest to 2 in the 4th quarter and worked wonderfully... I was down 12 by the end of the 3rd and used Artest to post up OJ Mayo...Artest didn't score much bc he was getting double teamed, so found the open man and got back into the game with that and timely steals with Artest and TMac
LOL, the pick and roll cheese (also read, lead pass cheese) is out this year...LOL! Man I hated playing people that abused that bug.
Guys, don't forget that you can adjust the sliders to increase/decrease the occurrence of certain things. I haven't done that yet myself, and I had the Knicks hit about 7 straight 3's on me last night. Crawford and Robinson were just pulling up off the break and shooting fade aways too. That part is realistic, at least.
I beat them pretty easily yesterday on Pro. I won the first couple, and switched to All-Star difficulty. I lost a couple of close ones to Celtics and Blazers, then I switched back to Pro, and barely squeaked by the Lakers. I practically had to go to Yao the whole game. He scored 66 points with 8 minute quarters. I'm not sure, but I think the cpu adjusted to my play style, so the isomotion and pick & roll didn't work as well after I switched back. They had essentially shut down T-Mac and Artest. It was kind of frustrating, but yet kind of fun knowing I need to re-adjust my play style. Defensively, I just learned to stay on the man I'm guarding, and avoid playing too much help defense. I got them to shoot 54%, but they were still killing me with offensive boards.
The game was meant to be played on the original slider settings though. I'll probably give it a week, and see if the defense get better with practice. If it is still too difficult, I might consider messing with them.
yeah i beat the griz but they were torching me earliy with the threes... i won against dallas and boston in overtime... i had the most difficulty with the thunder
