It looked like they had no plan or comfort level with each other out there. I still can't figure out why Cooper kept running to the spot next to Francis when he was about to shoot. Cutting down any chance for a rebound.

Horny and Williams pulled out the V. So I guess Jenna can now at least say the Jazz organization finally won something. 2ball. [IMG]

Geez, if that 3-point competition doesn't tell you to ax the damn thing, nothing will.

Pure ugliness. Can't believe no one could beat Hornacek's 13.

No kidding. The 3 point contest is about as thrilling as baseball's home run hitting contest (actually, I think it's a bit more exciting than the home run derby). I'm not sure what the heck happened for those guys to be bricking like they did. To top it off, it's not a good barometer of 3 point shooting ability. It's more an indication how fast you can hit long range bombs.

DD--I don't want to turn this into a thread about baseball, but I just had to respond to that knock on the home run derby. Watching McGwire smack home runs over Landsdowne St. here in Boston was a great show. Much better than the 3-pt contest.

I like the 3-pt contest. Just because the NBA doesn't pick better contestants shouldn't mean that the contest sucks.

    NAME - RANK - % (made/attempt)
    Ray Allen - #20 - .405 (102/252)
    Mike Bibby - #38 - .382 (39/102)
    Hubert Davis - #1 - .527 (69/131)
    Jeff Hornacek - #?? - .380 (27/71)**
    Allen Iverson - #?? - .349 (59/169)*
    Dirk Nowitski - #33 - .390 (55/141)
    Terry Porter - #10 - .425 (65/135)
    Bob Sura - #11 - .419 (93/222)

*Iverson's percentage doesn't rank him in the top 50 in the NBA.

**Hornacek doesn't have enough 3pters made to qualify for the rankings, but if he did, he'd be ranked #41

I realize that the All-Star Weekend needs to be fun and marketable, but here's a few names that weren't there for the 3-Pt Shoot Out:

    Allen Houston #2
    Dell Curry #3
    Jamal Mashburn #5
    Reggie Miller #7
    Glenn Robinson #15
    Michael Dickerson #19
    Dan Marjerle #23
    Steve Smith #31
    Glen Rice #48

    On 2-Ball:

    1. I think it's stupid
    2. I'm competitive, and we won it last year, so I'm upset we didn't win it this year.
    3. I don't think Francis and Cooper were the best choices. There were however, probably our most marketable choices.
    4. I think we should've gone with Sheryl Swoopes. She's a better outside shooter than Cooper. She may not be a better player or scorer, but she shoots better from outside.
    5. I think Mobley would've been a better choice for this. (My friend suggested Bullard, but he's not quick enough) My reason for Mobes is that he gets up for these types of competition. I bring up the NBA skills competition that he won over other veteran NBA players. Also, he may be streaky, but if he's hot he's money.

Bryce Drew or Walt would have been best for this one. I think they're the best pure shooters on the team.

I thought it should have Matt Bullard and Cooper in the 2ball. Matt is a more pure shooter than Steve is.

I was wondering when someone would bring up the level of competition in the 3 point contest.

Its not so bad. But the NBA did a poor job of selecting contestants for the 3 point, 2ball and yes the Dunk contest.

In the shootout, I dont think you necessarily go with whos the best in a game situation. I think it should be who can hit the most in a short time, and that has a good set shot.

    Reggie Miller
    Glenn Rice
    Dell Curry
    Steve Kerr
    Heck even Matt Bullard

In 2ball, you had some post up players from the WNBA

    The Dunk contest:
    Larry Hughes nuff said.

DUNK CONTEST... They also forgot Eddie Robinson of the Charlotte Hornets.

On INSIDE STUFF, they said he has a 43 inch vertical leap. I've seen him fly, and believe me, he can fly!

They should have had Rice, Richmond, or Miller in the 3 pt. contest also.

I'd like to see a game of "Horse" or "Pig" between players. Now that would be interesting. It doesn't need to be a big thing, but we all played it as kids, so let's see some of the pros go at it. And, oh, let's make sure stackhouse has to follow Carter again. That was funny.

Actually, Tina Thompson would've been the best choice

    This is from last season:
    3 Pt. Field Goal %
    Cynthia Cooper- .335
    Sheryl Swoopes- .337
    Tina Thompson- .351

    Calvin,

I disagree, for the same reason I disagree with Bullard as a choice. Tina just doesn't have the quickness to get the rebound and get a shot off or pass the ball to Mobley.

Swoopes is one of the quickest players in the WNBA, and of course Mobley is quick as a 'Cat'...

And, the women in the 2-ball competition rarely are the ones taking 3-pters. They mostly take mid-range jumpers and lay ins off rebounds. Swoopes is a much better mid-range shooter than Tina.
